Poly Lagoon View vs Lagoon View Concierge

We will be spending New Year's Eve and one or two days more at the Poly this year. (Our first four nights will be at BWV.) I have already booked lagoon view, requesting Tahiti, the building that is now being used for concierge but will, by then, be back to normal.

Since the first part of our trip has been booked on DVC points, we have a little room to play with resort budgets, and I am wondering about booking concierge, lagoon view. I have some reservations, though. (No pun intended.) I know the rooms in the normal concierge building are actually smaller than those in Tahiti (correct me if I'm getting the name wrong). Also, I would definitely want a balcony and non-smoking. I know that in the concierge building, the second floor is non-smoking and has no balconies. Is the "view" better from the concierge building? I definitely want to have a good view of MK for NYE fireworks, etc. Is concierge really worth the chance of not getting a balcony? Those of you who have stayed in concierge, how did you feel about your actual room (including, of course, did you have a balcony?)? Oh, and if you've stayed concierge over NYE, does the concierge do anything special? (Party on the beach, etc.)

This sounds a little ramble-y. But I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I am also planning my trip with the same reservations! I want to do concierge( to me, getting the breakfast, bottled water and snacks etc. is worth the extra money), but can't decide on the view. For me, the view might be wasted due to the fact that we usually close the parks! Is lagoon view that great? Please share some thoughts!

We just stayed in Poly lagoon view in Tahiti in May of this year. The room was huge and the view was awesome!

Aw, man, Dan. You made my decision. If I can get those views in Tahiti, that's where I wanna be.

Cindy, We're DVC'ers, so we'll already have a lot of snacks, etc. with us from our 4 nights at BWV. So, the concierge probably wouldn't be worth it from that point of view. On the other hand, if the view would be better, or if there were parties, etc. planned, that might be worth it.

The view: for me, it's important because we have an 8-year-old, and we rarely close down the parks. I know we won't on NYE because we'd like to make early-entry the next morning. (I'm betting it will be a pretty empty early-entry.) But I'd like to be able to sit out on my balcony and watch the fireworks. (I'm a fireworks nut!) And I love being able to look out on the castle at the Poly or Space Ship Earth from BWV. It just makes me feel like I'm there 24 / 7.
