We are holding reservations for the Poly,,standard garden view (CIF rate).

We are able to upgrade that (Disny Club rate) to concierge. Is it worth it?

Thanks

A couple of years ago we were able to upgrade for (I think) about $50.00 a night; for us it was definitely worth it. The breakfast, snacks, cordials, and water to take to the parks easily saved us the fifty bucks. Not to mention the extra great service and the wonderful room.

Whether it's worth it for you would depend on how much it costs, and whether you're going to be around the resort enough to use the lounge and all its goodies!

I think that concierge is worth it at the Poly. They have many different foods and drinks out all day. It was nice just to stop by and get a drink and something to eat. I think we paid $80 a night more for it, but found it to be worth the price (maybe not dollar-for-dollar, but we did have a great view from our room!).

that all depends on what you mean by "worth it"!!!
we have stayed concierge at the Poly twice, and the YC concierge twice also, (and GF once). do we save $$, probably not, but is it worth it to us, absolutely!!!!!!!!!! :)

we love staying concierge, it completely spoils you! it is wonderful to have the lounge and staff right there at your fingertips to help your vacation that much more relaxing, fun and convenient, and luxurious!!!!!!! :)

worth it??? YES!

have fun!

Laura :)

Hi: I understand that they have a kids table, and have things like turkey and swiss sandwiches, do they have pizza also? Can an adult eat off the kids table?

Thanks,

Deb.

If you can do it at a good discount it's worth it.....especially if you have a family.

Yes, adults can eat from the kid's table. They usually just have sandwiches, M&M's, gummi worms and cookies. :) They have juice boxes too but you have to ask for those.

It is so worth it for our family. It only costs us $63 more to do concierge. I love the location of the Hawaii bldg. It's great to be at the pool and go to the lounge to get a pop, water and some cookies in the afternoon. We have 3 young kids so I love the fact that we can eat breakfast in the lounge, it's one less meal that they have to eat in a resturant. They can sit in the kids area and watch tv or color. We did use the lounge for some evening meals too. It can be hit or miss, but it was nice to come back from a busy day at the parks when your tired and just sit in the lounge have some food and drink some wine:)
Here is my report from our trip last summer, there are many reasons why we love it so much. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75652&highlight=polynesian+concierge+kids
We are now hooked and only stay at the Polynesian concierge. When our kids get older we will stay at some of the other resorts. It's just to hard to try somewhere else when we know how much we enjoy the Polynesian concierge:cool:

We thought it was more than worth it. We traveled with my husband's family and we spent a great deal of time with them in the lounge. The kids loved the treats and big tv. The staff was very accommodating. The convenience of drinks and snacks all day can't be beat. We loved the location of Hawaii building and our view of the castle was spectacular. I loved the whole atmosphere of the Polynesian and loved just hopping down to the boat launch from the Hawaii building--with a quick stop in the lounge for a drink, of course!

Thanks for the replies:

We have food allergies to things like bacon, cheddar cheese, and son does not eat meat.
So is there ever anything like a cheese pizza, pasta with no meat, regular garden salad you know with lettuce, tomatoe etc.

The only other thing that concerns me is the sushi night, is there anything else to snack on with the sushi? Or can you go to the kids table and eat a turkey and swiss.

Deb.

Deb, I never did see pizza. You can eat from the kids table. The kids table usually have one platter of sandwhiches and a bowl of fruit and maybe some cupcakes. The regular buffet has about 4 different things to choose from. There is usually some veggies and dip, and some cheese. I don't remember seeing a regular salad. There were some different pasta salads. Depending on your taste some nights might be better than others. You can't always rely on the food. On our trip this past January I was by myself with my 3 kids and I was very hungry and very tired. I was looking forward to going back to the lounge to eat and relax. When we got to the lounge there wasn't anything for the kids to eat on the kids table and the food in the buffet wasn't appealing to them. Instead we made our way over to Kona Cafe for dinner.

I know one staple at the kid's table in December was PB&J uncrustable sandwiches. YUM! If he considers PB meat I guess that would rule that out.
Don't forget it would also cost you $10 a night to rent a minibar size fridge in a non-concierge room, and that is included. Most character breakfasts cost a lot, so when we do this we eat breakfast there, dinner sometimes depending on the night.

Yes he can eat peanut butter, but he eats yogurts, cottage cheese, spaghetti without sauce, vegetable and cheese subs . sounds weird but that is what he likes, , i will shop a the grocery store for some extra things for him. If I happen to have some pizza do they have a microwave that we can use in the concierge lounge.

Thanks,

Deb.

When we were there the kid's table featured the uncrustable pb&j's, fruit and assorted candies in buckets with shovels for the kids to scoop out. Also, the delicious cookies were out on the kid's table. Only one night did we see any other type of sandwich besides the pb&j.

On "Italian" night, we didn't have lasagna, but did have a large bowl of spaghetti (plain) with two types of sauce to ladle over - a plain tomato sauce and the tomato sauce with meatballs. There was also a bowl of ziti with sauce already on it. I believe that night also featured a regular garden salad. I wouldn't derive my budget by planning on making meals out of the food in the evening. You can never plan on what they will have on the any given night. On a few nights, we were pleasantly surprised and the kids were able to make a meal out of the appetizers. But on nights like Sushi night, we definitely went out to dinner. The nice thing that we found with the lounge is that we could have our "big" meal late afternoon (2-3) when the prices are cheaper and the restaurants cool and then use the lounge for a light snack.

I never saw bacon. The breakfast is a cold continental type of breakfast. Ie: muffins & such, bagels, cereal, fruit and one vat of hot oatmeal.

As for pizza, you can pick up a small individual sized pizza (cheese, pepperoni and supreme) in the cafe. About the size of a Pizza Hut personal pan pizza. If I remember correctly, the price was high, but not outrageous - around $3.50 - $4.00 for the pizza. We picked up drinks in the concierge lounge, so it made for a relatively inexpensive meal. My kids had a few of these for lunch by the pool. The convenience of just picking one up may be worth it rather than trying to find a microwave.

As for 'is it worth it'? We were totally spoiled. We will never stay anywhere else. The convenience of the breakfast is worth the extra money for our family. One of us would go down to the lounge, fill a tray with cereal and bagels and bring it back to the room so that we could get ready and eat at the same time. The kids were always anxious to get to the parks and stopping to eat at a restaurant was not a part of their plans:earsboy:

I never saw pizza at the poly lounge, but on italian night (usually friday) they have a few different types of Past, mostly w/out meat! and they have a night with all different types of salads, mac salad, veggies, all kinds of good things! there is always sandwiches at the kiddie table in the evening, either ham and cheese, turkey and cheese, or pbj, and yes! you can eat off it!

one night we were on our way to go to dinner over by Epcot in about an hour, and I was starving! so we went to the lounge, and I just wanted half a sandwich, they had ham and cheese, but they all had mayo on them, I dont eat mayo! so I kindly asked the chef, and he made me one w'out mayo!! :) I'm 28 years old! so, no they dont care who eats from the kiddie table!!! :)

often I saw a huge bowl of fresh strawberries (w/whip cream on the side) at the kiddie table! yum! :)

have a great time!!! :)

I am really enjoying reading all the descriptions of the concierge food. How about some of the other aspects of the concierge experience??

Please....

If you're celebrating a special occasion, definitely let them know. They called me before our trip to ask if I had any requests, etc. I hadn't sent my questionnaire back because I had already made my PSs. They also asked for the birthdays of our whole family. My birthday happened to fall on the day we checked in. That evening, we came back to our room after dinner and found that they had decorated the table with nice linens, china and silver, streamers, confetti, party blowers, and a beautiful cake. We sat on the balcony and enjoyed our dessert while we watched the animals--I couldn't think of a more perfect birthday.

Thanks everyone:

Everything sounds great except that sushi thingy, the pizza idea from captn cooks and drinks from concierge is a good idea.

Now when do we tip anyone for this food, or anything in the lounge or do they even take tips. I have never stayed concierge before.

I am not sure that I need turndown service, do you have to get that.

Deb
