Poly GVC vs. Lagoon view? what to do

Okay, so we are booked in a Poly GVC room for part of our stay in May. Here is the question. Should I change this ressie to just a Lagoon View and drop the concierge? Will the concierge services (which my DH really enjoys) outweigh having a Lagoon view room? I know that some lagoon views can be less than stellar, so I don't want to give up concierge and then end up in a room with a tree in my view. I can't justify the cost of LVC unless great rates come out. :teeth:

Also, for those of you in the know, when was the Hawaii longhouse last renovated?

Thanks for all your help.

Hi,
I have stayed in both lagoon view and garden view, concierge and non-concierge. I would definately keep the garden concierge. The convenience of the lounge is worth the view, many times over. If you want to see Wishes, just step outside and go to the pool or the beach, OR get a snack and watch from the lounge. The only way I would even consider switching is if I had little ones that would be in bed by 9 or 10, then they could watch while in bed. But, then again, having the lounge there with access to food, drinks, and snacks is SO convenient when you have small children. I would stick with your original plan.
The Hawaii longhouse was renovated in late 2003, I believe.
Have a great time. :)

We are considering Poly concierge this next trip but we don't have experience with it.

I think it depends on how much you plan on staying in the room. One reason we have stayed at less expensive hotels (besides budget) is the fact that we do lots of park hopping and spend very little time in the hotel room. We actually dropped resi's at the WL last time to extend the stay and try an AS resort.

I think always having easy access to food and drink when coming back to the hotel for rest would outwiegh a nice view out a window you may not be around to enjoy that much. But if you plan on hanging around in your room a lot it may not...since you could always stock your fridge.

Double dittos. . . :bitelip: :flower: :cheer2:

Well, then, I think we will stay with the GVC. My boys are 7,5 and 2 and will be in bed early, but the convienence of the lounge can't be beat. My DH loves concierge. He's spoiled. :teeth:

Thanks for all your help. Now I just need to try and get a ground floor room so that we can have a patio. Anyone have any room suggestions?

Thanks again. :wizard:

I'll get flamed, but I don't think Poly concierge is worth the extra money. and from the most recent concierge posts, their service and food offerings have dwindled. Remember that concierge is only worth it if you use it. That means, let them do everything for you. Eat there all you can and don't be afraid to ask for things. I won't stay there concierge again.

We stayed at Poly LV for 8 nights. While I LOVED seeing a picture perfect view of the Castle from my window, having the snacks, especially in the morning, would have been a better deal. I wouldn't change my trip for anything, but in the future, I'll take concierge over LV.

And you never know, you just may get lucky and get an upgrade to an LVC!

Concierge, absolutely! I noticed on the Expedia site that there is only a $10 difference between GV concierge and a regular lagoon view room. I think it's the 2nd floor that doesn't even have patios, so it's not as if you can even sit on one to enjoy the lagoon view in some rooms. Lagoon view is wonderful, but concierge amenities are better, in my opinion :flower: :sunny: :flower:

I would definitely stay GV concierge because it is well worth it. I've never stayed lagoon view only because I never spend much time in the room so that is also an important factor.

Stick with concierge and don't forget to take advantage of the pre-planners!!

Thanks again. I knew you guys would have the answers. I will definately use the pre-planners...it's our 10th anniversary :cool1:

Just Wanted to say "thank you" for the advice re:poly concierge. booked today for 5 nts and were concerned about the cost. It really does sound great. We have 4 children and I am sure they will love it. :earsboy:
