Already have reservations at the Animal Kingdom (Savanah View) and Poly (Lagoon View) for our trip in late Jan of 2005 (yes - I like to plan ahead).

We are now having second thoughts on paying the substanial premium for the Lagoon View at the Poly. I think it is something like an extra $85/night (compared with Garden View).

Is the Lagoon View worth that much?

Thanks,

Rick

Rick,

I too have booked a Lagoon View at the Poly. I have stayed in the garden view rooms in the past. The are very nice, however, my husband is a real "view" person, and I have heard the view is not to be missed! What's a few more dollars when Disney is already so expensive of a trip! Either way you will have a great time.

Well, I'll tell you one thing. If you plan on spending a lot of time in your room, you'll be very happy with the lagoon view. It is an amazing view, and I felt it was worth it when we stayed there. From our room, we could see the beach, wedding pavilion, Grand Floridian, Magic Kingdom, Contemporary, the monorail, etc. Very, very nice, really makes you feel like you are at Disney. :)

The Garden view rooms are fine, too, they fit very well with the South Pacific theme.

It depends are where you are i think. My sister had a room in Tahiti with a fantastic view and you're right on the beach. Other views aren't as great as that "island" in the lagoon can block yoru view. (figi, i think)
Ive heard people say that trees in front of their lagoon view balcony have blocked their view.

On the other hand i had a garden view room in Tokelau. I had a great view. rooms XX19 & xx20 on the first floor i dont remember what the first 2 digits were. Sitting on the patio i could see the contemporary and walking 3-4 steps into the grass you could see the whole lagoon.

The beach was steps from our patio too. If i could get that room again..id pay garden rates ... in fact id pay more (somewhere between garden and lagoon rates) to make sure i wouldnt get one of those garden rooms with views of trees or other longhouses or trees in front of the parking lot

But id probably go for the lagoon view to make sure i had the better view.

If you are willing to pay the extra money for lagoon view, then you should take a look at Garden View Concierge. It is not a lagoon view, however it comes with the upgraded service, great building location, snacks in the lounge... and you can view the Magic Kingdom from the lounge. I know it isn't the same as your room, however how much time do you really spend in your room?

Just something to think about.

How about Garden views from Tokelau of Tahiti ?
That maybe our resort for our 2006 trip.
pool for the kids and near MK
on monorail for DH - he love EPCOT
tropical for me ;)

I am in the process of this current dilema, I decided to go Garden View for this June. It was $100 more just to see the water, we like to be out of the room even when not at the parks, so I think we can acheive the same views just going to the beach and hanging out.

Have a great time

We've stayed at the Hawaii bldg since way before it was concierge level (like when it was $40/night!). For a lot of those years we always requested and after concierge took over the bldg we always requested the lagoon view, until 2 years ago. We found out that we were spending less and less time in the room. If you're planning on being in your room a lot, then it may be well worth your while to stay in a lagoon view room. If you plan on enjoying other parts of the "world," especially during the evening hours, then it may be more reasonable to have a garden-view. We've literally stayed in every room on the third floor lagoon-view of Hawaii (I want to keep calling it Tonga). It's a gorgeous, memorable view. But it's also a view you can see from the concierge lounge on the second floor.

We will be staying at the Poly for the third time this April, and this is the first time we'll have a LV. Both our previous trips we have stayed in Aotearoa, garden view, and it was very nice. But, we did not spend very much time in our room. Now that we have been several times, we tend to spend a lot more time at the resort, and that's why we chose LV this time around. Maybe that will help you decide, how much time do you think you will spend in your room?

Whatever you decide, Poly is gorgeous, I know we can't wait to get back!!!:sunny:

We stayed on the third floor LV conceirge and what I think is, you will have a front row seat for "Wishes" and the Fireworks over the castle without worring about people standing in front of you or your children...........View, View, View. PRICELESS!

We stayed at the Poly for the first time in Feb. We fell in love with the resort - I'd say it's our new favorite (YC/BC coming in a close second).

We booked a garden view room. I'll have to say that although I would love to have a lagoon view, the garden views are so lovely that I wouldn't want to pay $85 more per night. Maybe $30-$40 more a night. But maybe it wouldn't even be worth it for that. I just feel like $85 a night is too much when you have a wonderful lush tropical view and you can simply walk out to the beach to enjoy the Seven Seas Lagoon and the magic kingdom views.

I doubt I would ever pay for a lagoon view - I'd rather spend the money on something else.

The LV is great, but GV is equally pleasant. I'd rather be outdoors than pay the extra $$$$ for view. In fact, I'd rather pay the extra $$$$ and spend my time in a GV concierge level room than pay for a nonconcierge LV. Just our preference, however. :D

Sure glad we have a lagoon view, checking in tomorrow. DD came down with a virus today, we may end up spending half the trip in the room!

I think the lagoon view rooms are worth every penny for that fabulous view of the castle. I make sure at check-in that I have a prime, unobstructed view if possible so I can watch that castle changing colors until bedtime. Great views of the fireworks!

What is the best location to request to get this view? We have a regular lagoon view reservation.
