Poly Conceirge

The rooms in Hawaii are smaller than Tahiti but still very large. I think it's 409 ft versus 440 ft. They are MUCH roomier than WL. We've stayed in both new and older buildings many times. Don't worry...you'll have plenty of space. The rooms in Hawaii were refurbished just a couple of years ago and are in great shape.

Some people like Tahiti because it is close to the TTC although not quite as close as Rapa Nui is. Hawaii is not far to the TTC though and is closer to the GCH, the boat dock and the Volcano pool. The beach in front of Tahiti is quieter, too, but the one in front of Hawaii is usually pretty wide open. Have a wonderful trip.

I don't agree with this statement across the board. For a family of five, breakfast at Captain Cooks will run at least $35 with nothing more than cereal, milk, juice and coffee. It could be as high as $50 or more. If you have a couple glasses of wine and appetizers before dinner that can save another $40. Ditto for cordials and deserts after dinner. Add to that free strollers, free bottled water and soda and snacks, plus perks like being able to e-mail the concierge to make PS rather than spending $ on phone calls, and the little things like having robes in your room, turndown service and often the best room/view in the house, and it can be VERY worthwhile.

If you are the type of visitor that is up at the crack of dawn to go to parks, and not back to the room until midnight, and uses it to sleep and shower, then no, concierge is not right for you. but if you enjoy spending time in our room or at your resort, then it's worth considering.

I don't agree with it across the board either! Which is why I said "generally";) There are certainly times when you may "come out ahead" compared to some alternatives.

Breakfast in the concierge lounge *should* be more economical than at Captain Cook's as the latter overcharges badly for breakfast items. (The lounge breakfast is essentially a fixed price buffet , though it is unclear what the "fixed price" is.)

I was thinking that if one wants to save money, you're far better off buying some breakfast items, bottled water, etc at a local store. In that way you could cover breakfast, beverages and snacks for far less than the usual cost of concierge, even if you get a refrigerator in your room. Concierge is much nicer and more convenient, but does not save money compared to that alternative.

I never meant to say that concierge was a waste of money; you do get significant value for it at the Polynesian, probably more than at other resorts. I just hate to see people doing concierge and then asking themselves if they ate $100 worth of lounge food each day, or thinking that they didn't get their money's worth if not.
