Poly bungalow through Disney?

I am looking into getting a Poly bungalow for one night. However, I need it to be a flexible booking because we want it on our wedding day and we won't know our wedding day 100% until 6 months out. I never see the bungalows available on Disney's website to book with cash? Are they ever available through Disney? Maybe I just need to call?

Otherwise, we are DVC members and could potentially get a point transfer from a Poly owner so that we could cancel or change the reservation to a different night at 6 months if needed. Is getting a point transfer from a Poly owner very difficult since there are not many Poly owners yet? Are bungalows difficult to get 7 months out during Easter week? We are looking at 2 years out from now.

Thanks for any advice on our options! :)

Poly has sold about 0.9 of its 4.2 million points in a year's time.

At the same pace, that means about 2.7/4.2 million points will be sold in two years.

It's the difference between ~22% sold and ~65% sold.

Now add in that DVC releases inventory as the resort sells (currently about 40% of inventory is avail to DVC with about 22% owners). Currently that means that there is almost always some availability at 7 months because there's twice as many rooms avail as owners. Who knows how much of the inventory will be released then.

If DVC has released the whole resort by then, they may have none or a very limited inventory for cash sales. Right now, DVC hasn't released 60% of the resort, and they can sell those rooms for cash. That's 12 of the 20 bungalows potentially. If all the rooms have been released in two years, they may only have bungalows for points transferred out (cruises, etc) and given that new owners will probably want to stay at Poly first year or two, that might not be very many.

The problem is there's no way to extrapolate now and two years from now.

If it's important to you, I'd try a two-fold strategy: try to reserve cash (CRO). Then, 12 months out, try to find a Poly owner willing to transfer. There will be twice as many owners by then.

Thank you for that detailed reply! And that two-fold strategy is a good idea...So to confirm, if I call 500 days out or maybe even one year out, you're thinking I should be able to book a bungalow through Disney?

I'm not sure how many they will have avail, but I'd try early.

Then, IF you can get Poly points transferred in, you can cancel the CRO reservation

I think that plan offers the best chance.
