how hard is it to get poly studio at 11 months out? I'm thinking about buying DVC but needing to understand if I buy at poly can I reliably get a studio at 11 months?

We've JUST signed up and that's what we want, it looks like availability is good (we are looking for Jan so 8 months out!..

If you regularly book at 11 months, you should generally be okay. It's hard to say what happens with a few key weeks once the resort is sold out, as 25% of the points at the resort are associated to the bungalows, but can be used to book studios. The first two weeks of December, marathon weekend, Wine & Dine weekend and a few others may become cut-throat, even with the large number of studios at the resort.

PVB has 20 bungalows and 360 studios. I'd expect it will continue to be easy to book a studio there at 11 months. I think it will get more difficult at 7 months.

I booked PVB for 2 of the busiest DVC time periods of the year - mid October, and second week of December. The October trip was made at about 8.5 months; December at eleven months. No problems with either, both lake views.

At the 7 month mark for the October trip, all availability disappeared within a few hours - both lake view and standard. December availability didn't last that long.

I have not had any problems booking between 11 and 7 months.

I think you'll be fine at 11 months for most weeks. And even the problem weeks, you'll prob be ok right at 11 months.

I do think most of the rental demand for Poly is going to focus on studios during key weeks. Most people won't go to bat for renters exactly at 8 am, 11 months out. As an owner, you'll have an advantage.

But once the 11 month window is open, there'll be intense rental demand on the key weeks.

Thanks all. I'm still deciding and most of my points will be SSR but I'm thinking of buying 60 at PVB just so I can get studio every 3 years there. What about summer weeks in studio at 7 months? How hard is that?

I own at PVB and have found that booking 11-7 months has been relatively easy. The times I have booked for are the first week of May and the third week of April (MA/RI school vacation week). I've also noticed that summer months so far seem pretty easy for owners to book too within our resort advantage.

We got 2 studios for Christmas week (this year....2017) at the 7 month mark. When I called to get the 2 studios, the CM said there were more than 5 more available.

It is virtually 100% if you book when your 11 month window opens. That's true (and has been true for all resorts) with just a few exceptions. None of the exceptions are at the Poly and I see no reason why that wouldn't continue to be true. drusba's summary of 11 month availability from 9/23/2016 still holds true as far as I'm concerned.

IMO, no need to worry about not reliably getting into the Poly at the 11 month window.

If Poly ever has an 11 month problem, it'll be with Lake View rooms because there are 72 of those compared with 288 standard rooms.

Still not likely.

Think about it this way, even assuming fixed weeks, the only way a Poly room is going to be difficult to secure at 11 months is if dozens of owners are walking for that room.

Let's take an extreme example: say a week had 10 fixed weeks (I'm not sure if any do) and 3 dozen walkers for that hard to get time (that would seem huge) - there'd still be 24 Lake View rooms avail at 8 am 11 months out.

And standard? Same example? Hundreds of rooms avail.

But same example with a room that DOES have 11 month availability: VGF studio first week of Dec: assume 10 fixed weeks (there likely ARE somewhere near that many) and 3 dozen walkers for 47 possible units. That would mean 1 unit avail at 8am at 11 months out. See why that could be a problem?

I think you'll be safe at Poly at 11 months out.

IMO buy where you love to stay and you will be happy. Booking at 7 months continues to be more of a challenge and will only get more competitive as time goes on. Past and current booking patterns do not indicate what tomorrow will be like as Disney and DVC make create events and extras to attract guests.

Agree. IMO, lack of availability at the Poly for 11 month bookings shouldn't even be a consideration for NOT buying there.

I was able to book a Poly studio for 4 nights in July with in May when I canceled out my other trip. So, I think getting rooms there at 11 months should never be a problem!
