Planning on Poly 1st or 2nd week of December. Does anyone know how it is decorated for Christmas? Anyone have pics of the Poly at Christmas? DW wants this to be a Christmas trip.

I don't have any pictures, but have stayed at the Poly during Christmas. And it is TOTALLY UN-Christmasy. If you're looking for Christmas decorations, etc, you'd be better served at another resort. There is a small display in the lobby, and they play ANNOYING Hawaiian Christmas music throughout the resort. The best resorts at Christmas are the Grand Floridan and the Wilderness Lodge. Both do HUGE displays for Christmas.

Even though we didn't stay at the Poly last year we did eat there once and I would agree with the above poster. It was probably the most unchristmas like astmospher of all the resorts we visited. We stayed at AKL and it was beautiful!

Many thanks for the replies. The reason we picked Poly is because of the monorail. It would be easier to be on the monorail line because of our DDs, 10, 6, and 1 year old twins at time of trip. It's much easier to get a stroller on the monorail than to fold it and carry everything on a bus or boat.

I think the Polynesian is beautifully decorated for Christmas. The colors used fit the color scheme of the Polynesian...corals, golds, apricots, etc.. It is much more subtle than GF and WL but very well done.

Plan a meal at the GF and enjoy that decor as well.

And you're right, the Polynesian can't be beat for convenience.

If this link works, here is a picture of one of the Christmas trees in the Great Ceremonial House:

This picture came out very dark, but it's an oar decorated with Christmas garland--also in the Great Ceremonial House:

If you go to www.wdwig.com and click on accomadations and follow links to the POly- at the bottom of the photo page there are 3 pics of Poly decorations at Christmas. Hope that helps.

We were at the Poly last December too. I thought the decorations were pretty, especially in the concierge lounge. However, the music can definitely get to you. Apparently, there aren't very many Hawaiian Christmas songs so they play the same five or six over and over and over again. If I want to drive my son crazy all I have to do is start singing one of those songs, he runs out of the room as fast as he can! The monorail is very convenient but we ended up taking the boat most of the time, even with a stroller. It's definitely faster on the way back as on the monorail you have to make the big Contemporary, TTC loop which always seemed sort of slow to us. Have a wonderful time!

Like the others have said, the Polynesian's Christmas decorations are pretty subtle compared to most of the other Deluxe resorts.

That said, you'll get LOTS of Christmas decorations in all of the parks and around the World, so you might not mind if the resort itself is a bit toned down!
