I’m preparing for if and when we get moved from CBR. We arrive August 5th with 2 adults. I’m guessing it won’t be long before we have to be moved or something.
I know they mostly just tell you what resort you get, but I have read they gave a few choices for some.
So most of the posts I have read will be moved to Saratoga Springs, Old Key West or Fort Wilderness cabins. I really do not know anything about any of them and in case I get to choose one of those which is best in your opinion?

It's a toss up. Fort Wilderness has a good location with the boat to Magic Kingdom. It also has a kitchen which you wouldn't get in a studio at the other two. Old Key West has cute theming. Saratoga springs has good access to Disney springs for dining. All three are a little too big. The only one I have stayed at is Fort Wilderness and I know I like it there so that's what I'll be hoping to get.

Yeah don’t like the idea of them all being so large. We won’t have a car.

Old Key West seems to be ahead on the poll. It does look nice in the pictures, but so massive! What would be a good room request for anyone who has stayed there?

I saw a video of FW and it looks like you would need a car or golf cart to get around.

OKW has two categories for DVC owners, The buildings close to Hospitality House...where check in and food, etc. is a specific booking and not able to be requested. Those go pretty fast.

I have never stayed there because I prefer near park resorts and when not, I go with SSR...one of the 3 resorts I own at,

I like SSR because it is close to DS and you can walk over there easily,

there are internal buses to get you around. We love Fort Wilderness but their food choices are lacking.

Old Key West studios have 2 actual beds where Saratoga has 1 bed and a pull out couch.

They all have pro's a con's. I've never personally toured OKW but have Saratoga. Their kids center is amazing.

Yes I did find out the buildings close Hospitality House are preferred and book up quick.

Since you're going in early August I voted Saratoga because you can walk to Disney Springs. Might come in handy in the evening.

OKW would be a close 2nd since they do have a boat that goes to Disney Springs also.

We've stayed in both OKW and SS and love them both for different reasons. Our biggest downside for OKW was the lack of QS other than the outdoor stand which was a downer in the rain. The QS was better at SS and we like the proximity to DS but we prefer the ambiance of OKW.

We own at SSR and really like it but I chose OKW in the poll. I just love the feel of the resort. It’s so laid back and chill. As previous posters have stated, the Hospitality House area books up quickly. We’ve stayed on Peninsular Road before in building 45. We had a water view and saw the boat coming and going. It’s not a bad walk to the HH and main pool. There’s also a quiet pool in the opposite direction.

As an OKW owner for 20 years, I am not biased when I say OKW hands down. My first ever stay in the 70's was at the FW cabins. I know they have changed, but having quick access to MK is really the only perk. Bus service is not great, as they share with WL. We used to stay at SSR and liked it, actually staying everywhere but our home resort for the first 12 years of our ownership. The resort is pretty (painted our kitchen "Pickling Spice" green after falling in love with the color and getting DVC to tell us what it was) and the pools are fun. Congress Park is the best area to stay. But, once we stayed for the first time at our home resort, we absolutely loved it. If you are being placed in a room you will probably not have access to the Hospitality House booking area. Your best bet for proximity to the HH is the first few buildings on Miller's Road. If not, most people like Old Turtle Pond Rd. as it has a great quiet pool. QS is not great, as others have said, bit Olivia's is quite good. Boat and bus access to Disney Springs is pretty quick, and you can walk there. Lastly, for all the times we have stayed, busses to the parks have been ok. I think all bus service is going to take a hit when they first open, so I'm not sure how big of a deal this will be. Good luck.

Thank you for all the information. I have looked on YouTube at all 3 resorts and do like the theme of Old Key West better than the others. It’s more my style 😁. I just worry about the size and having no car.

I have stayed at SSR and eaten dinner at Olivia's at OKW and walked their grounds. I think SSR is the way to go because their quick service is very good. SSR is close to DS and I have not found the walks from the majority of the buildings to the QS to be that bad at all. We travel without a car. OKW seemed a bit more far out and sprawling. The boat ride to DS was fun but the boat goes really slowly. OKW is very beautiful though and I understand the appeal. Those are just my 2 cents!

If I read it correctly, you're all adults so I voted SSR for the access to Disney Springs with the outside entertainment along with food, etc.

If you had kids, I'd say Fort Wilderness with the pool areas, hay rides, inter transpo system similar to CBR and the boat access to MK. OKW doesn't do it for me. It's nice enough and the hospitality area is very convenient to boat access to DS, pool, food, etc. but we've only stayed in studios.

Except Ft Wilderness is not a DVC resort. It just happens to be one that Disney is opening along with the DVC resorts.

OKW has only three buildings with an elevator and they are usually reserved for medical needs. But the rooms on average are the largest of all the DVC resorts. You can hop any bus from any bus stop and arrive at the Hospitality House area (last bus stop). Then you just walk over to the Peninsular Rd bus stop and hop any bus back to your area. DVC studios don't have burners to cook on, but they do have microwave ovens and undercounter refrigerators (plus a toaster and coffee pot).

I have heard the Community Halls will not be open. That's what you are calling a kids' center.

I have only stayed there once. We were put in Turtle Pond area. I enjoyed that because it had a pool and hot tub right there. Also QS lunch . I am not sure if they still do that.

I always study the resort maps and get a feel for what I like. So do a little homework, you will be glad you did.
