Do You Like The Idea?

  • No. The Tower is a perfect fit for the Twilight Zone. Let GotG have its own attraction.

I've been to both and I never liked the DCA version as much as WDW. The car doesn't move across the floor, instead it goes backwards.

Count me as another (older) adult who has never seen Guardians of the Galaxy and would be disappointed if my favorite ride at WDW was changed.
I have never seen or heard of Guardians of the Galaxy either:rotfl:

This idea makes zero sense. I can't even wrap my brain around this.

Now if they redid RNRC as a GotG ride, I might have to finally work up the nerve to try it.

Seriously, though, Disney, don't get rid of the great "old Hollywood" vibe of those areas of DHS.

It would be different to see rebranding of an "un-popular" ride, but dang I hope it stays at DL. I watched the old Disney movie of Tower of Terror as a kid and that attraction, although based on shows not the movie, in WDW is amazingly done (even though I personally am not riding it anymore). I feel like IF this were to ever happen at WDW, what would stop Disney from rebranding other Disney classics.

We have to do rider swap with young children, and I still get creeped out since I rode it at 5 and the twilight zone theme scared the ever living poop out of me. I would really be thrilled for them to redo the theme, because the ride has a short height requirement compared to a lot of their thrill rides and has a not at all child friendly theme. It sucks for me because the ride itself is one of my favorite at Disney World. I love drops and love that it's unpredictable.

I hope they would still theme it to the same detail and not cheap out.

I would love to share this ride with my daughter when she's tall enough but my husband and I have both decided to wait until she's 8 or 9 to prevent the literal terror that I went through.

I know a lot of people would be sad, so please don't flame me.

Are they still adding the new ToT themed bar at HS? Then doing an GotG overlay wouldn't make sense and would take away from the pull of the bar area. Plus, they would both be happening around the same-ish time...
I'm betting (and hoping!) that this is definitely not going to impact World. We were just in Land and I missed ToT because my littles refused to ride. I NEED my ToT fix in November!

I think they are still adding the bar. I'll have to do my part and make sure it's successful enough to keep them from changing the theme. Someone has to be willing to take one for the team.:rotfl:

This just sounds like a late April fools prank. How is GtoG theme going fit? :confused3

Guardians of the Galaxy was a huge hit at the box office and Disney likely wants to somehow work Marvel into the Florida parks in some way. I doubt that they would do it like this but who knows? Some "insiders" are claiming that it's under consideration but only as an overlay.

I have never seen or heard of Guardians of the Galaxy either:rotfl:

While I am certainly of an age that has watched Twilight Zone and know who Rod Serling was, I am pretty sure there are a lot more people in WDW that know the Guardians of the Galaxy. DH loves TZ so loves ToT and will be so disappointed if it changes. DS 10 on the other hand is creeped out by the theme and would much prefer Guardians.

If DHS is getting rid of OLD Hollywood themes it would totally make sense to change it.

If they're going to do a GoG overlay, the trainwreck of a Stitch attraction in MK would seem to be the obvious choice. I can't imagine anyone having a worse reaction to it then "Well, at least they tried to do something with it...."

Exactly!! Why bother with a well populated symbolic ride, when there's Stitch begging to be made into something else... NO its space is not ideal and all that jazz but can we please see Stitch rescued??

Why?? What in the world?! Why would you mess with a great, wonderfully themed ride like that? There are so many other things that NEED updating that they could work on...Innoventions, updating Ellen's Energy adventure to this century, doing something with the empty WOL pavilion... This reminds me of the changes made to Test Track. The Tron theme is ok, but everyone in my family liked the old one way better. If there's nothing wrong, don't mess with it!!

The twilight zone fits this ride perfectly. I'm 32 and have maybe seen a handful at tops of bits and pieces of the tv shows, but it still works so well. Even not knowing a thing about it, it just works so perfectly.

I don't know a thing about guardians. Is there a way there could actually make this seem to fit well if you've seen the movies?

I've seen things mentioned (not as a rumor about just a change) about wreck it ralph redo here before. While i've never seen it, I've seen my nephew play the video game which has you climbing a building. At least there I could see them having the dips as being knocked down. But how would they re theme it so well that the queue fits so well?

Like I said, I really know very little of all three of these options. While the twilight zone may not resonate with younger people, it all makes sense so much after seeing it all. I'm sure they'd have a way to integrate it all, but just doesn't seem like the others would fit as well.

I'm almost 26 and I've never seen Twilight Zone (but I have seen GOTG) - and I STILL 100% prefer the Twilight Zone despite never having seen any of those episodes. ToT works so well at DHS, I can't fathom why Disney would change something that is so exquisitely themed.

Just to remind everyone...ToT at Disney World isn't even rumored to get a Guardians of the Galaxy overmake. It's rumored but not confirmed for Disney Land to coincide with the marvel stuff their doing.

Rest assure Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios is remaining untouched anytime soon

ToT is the greatest ride in all of WDW,the theme and theming is flawless and although its a thrill ride its something most people can enjoy. They mess with the Twilight Zone name ir story of the ride I'm boycotting Disney, every time there's a best ride in WDW poll on these boards this ride is always right up there, its already a classic that can't be touched. If they want to do a seasonal overlay or something temporary I can be OK with that, anything more and they're just screwing it up.
