Talk to me about your PDA. I'm trying to decide whether to go cheap for now and upgrade later or get something decent now (which I really can't afford at this point.) I think I want a Pocket PC; maybe someone can convince me I want a Palm or something else instead.

Please tell me what you like/don't like/wish you had in a PDA.

I don't have one, but my DH does. He's had a Sony Clie (sp?) for over a year now and seems to like it. I don't think he's had any problems with it.

I've got a Dell Axim (PocketPC). It is wonderful ... the biggest problem I have is remembering to use it.

I started with a Handspring PDA - I think I picked it because I could get it in red, and it wasn't too expensive.

I lost it somewhere and by that time had gotten used to having one. I upgraded to a Treo 300 which is a combo PDA/phone using Sprint phone service. One less thing to carry (and lose).

I liked that so well that when it came out last year I upgraded to the Treo 600. I really love it. I have about 400 people in my address book, and I love not having to update stuff in multiple places.

I have kept my addresses on my computer for over 20 years so that certainly made it easier to implement.

It's not easy to surf the web but is doable. It's nice to be able to check email from almost anywhere.

I've kept my calendar on Outlook for ages but had to deal with a paper copy before this. I love being able to keep everything in sync.

I have an HP iPaq 5550 running pocket PC 2003 and I find it enormously useful.

I use it to browse the web using the WLan connection, I can VPN into work and manage the servers if I need to. I sync my e-mail on it when I am out of the office by linking it with my cell phone over bluetooth, and I have added a GPS system to it so I don't get lost in the car anymore. It's amazing :teeth:

You might guess that I like gadgets

Alan.

I have my Handspring which is great as well as a Sidekick which is a combination PDA, text pager and phone. I love it.

You missed my option:

I have a PDA and I don't use it!

I bought a Handspring Visor way back when and did use it and like it, but I got an iBook last summer and find that since I have that I don't use my Visor at all. It's been so long since I used it that it is totally wiped out of information. I'm not even sure I could get it to connect to my computer since I've upgraded my operating system at least three times! I realize the laptop isn't quite as portable, but in my job as a teacher, it's as portable as I need to be.

I have a Palm m130 which is fine for me. I love being able to take it along and keep track of everyone's schedules, especially when it comes to making doctor's appts, etc. I also like it to keep track of everyone's meds for doctor's appts. DD has asthma and allergies and her allergist keeps marvelling over a patient that actually keeps track of that on their palm.

DH has a Palm Tungsten III with the expandable screen which he loves. He's constantly using it at work and as I do is always updating it via the computer link.

I also have a Palm m130. However, they don't make that particular model any more so my opinions on it won't really help you out that much.

In general, I really like having a PDA though. I will recommend to HotSynch LOTS though. You never know when it's going to pick a day to crash and lose all the data stored in it. (Lesson learned ;) )

I have a Palm Zire 21 and like it. I did not need anything fancy, just something to keep all addresses and dates handy.

Loved my Palm III........lost it.......wish I had another.
