I am hesitant to get a rental car to begin with, because I will be a couple months short of 25 when we go anyway, but I keep thinking that priceline will give me a good bid. But then, I keep hearing great things about tiffany town car and want to consider them as a shuttle, but then I start thinking ~ I may not stay in WDW for the first week anyway, only the second week are we staying in the world, so will Tiffany be worth it? Or should I just stick with cabs and travel using them, and hopefully saving a little money while we are at it, or are we doomed either way?

If we stay on I-Drive, we will be pretty close to everything we want to see ~ Sea World, Belz, Florida Mall ~ and are also considering staying at HRH in US. So, after blabbering on like that, what would you all suggest???

Hi, ChisJo! This is a great discussion for the Transportation Board, so I am redirecting all replies there. Please check the Transportation Board for further replies. Thanks so much! :D

Last time I was at WDW, I stayed off-site and was bound by the Hotel free shuttle timetables which was not good as they had more control over my holiday than I did. Staying in Kisseemee on the 192 meant trips into town by companies such as Mears was costing me $40 for a one-off round-trip but at least I had the luxury of determining my own point and time of pick-up (which is great if you're staying late for shows). Mears also does a Superpass (unlimited use of their services for 3 nights) which was great AND includes the ride to and from the Airport.
This year Im staying on property (ASSport) but Im hiring a car for the duration of my stay. This will allows me to get off property and visit IOA/USO/SWO and BG in Tampa as well as other things like **The Groove** at Citywalk.
I found that Orlando has a really good internal network eg Got a Mears Shuttle from the 192 to SWO, saw Shamu and some of the shows I'd missed earlier in the week, then caught the complimentary bus over to IOA using my Orlando Flexticket to finish my day there. Arranged for Mears to pick-me up after dinner at Citywalk. A long but great day.
For me, Ive found 7 days bound by buses and shuttles was not as enjoyable as having the freedom of coming and going as I pleased so I would recommend hiring a car if freedom is a priority.
Hope my bantering has helped. In the end it will come down to budget and time. Shorts stays go Shuttle, over 5 days, go Rental. Best of Luck!:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

Everytime my hubby and I have gone down there we've rented and REALLY liked the freedom it offered. No waiting for a bus, we could go anywhere at anytime and have it just be US. you're in lines so much down there and around so many people, it's nice to have time just where it's you and your family. Now that we will be going with a child for the first time we are DEFINATELY renting again. Beside the fact we are bringing my mother and she needs to park in the handicap spots so we'll be up close. :)

BIG vote for rental for a million more reasons.
