Got back from our 5-day, 4-nite trip on the 15th, and today, received an email inviting us to write and post reviews of our trip elements (restaurants, resort and parks) on a new Disney-hosted review site...

Will you use the Disney site along with other sites to plan your trip? Or do you think Disney's going to restrict the reviews posted there solely to the most positive reviews, and censor out the reviews that might highlight negative aspects of WDW? Mark your selection in the poll and let's discuss in the thread...

I get the feeling that this will be more on Positive reviews. I would rather have negative and positive viewpoints because your experience is based on things such as how you plan and your personal tastes (such as I love Fresh made rice Krispie treats while disliking RNR). Your experiences are subjective and it's what you base your information on that makes the best experience possible.

Not a chance!!

From what I have heard, previous Disney hosted sites were a whitewash with most negative comments removed or never posted in the first place. I have little faith this one will be any different. I'd like to be wrong, though.

This would probably not be my first choice for a review site, but I wouldn't discount it either. Even negative reviews often need to be taken with a grain of salt.

I got the same email. No thanks, I'll post a review where it can't be censored.

There's a lot of games that can be played with corporate owned sites. For example, there is research to show the correct amount to whitewash reviews. A company is typically better off allowing at least a few negative reviews through. Then people say to themselves, "ah, this is accurate because they do allow negative reviews" where most people these days would be suspicious of all positives. It's ripe for manipulation. I don't know if Disney would or wouldn't, but there are a lot of other places to see reviews so no need to stick to theirs.

I don't really rely on any reviews, I just try things, and see how it goes. I actually enjoy Tony's Town Square, and the Liberty Tree Tavern, though they often get a solid beating in reviews.

I will take a look at it, but it will have no credibility with me. I guess Disney figures a certain percentage of people just search for "Disney reviews" and they might as well have a shot at persuading people along with the rest of the internet.

If it starts saying Skippers offers cheap meals with awesome selections, we know it's bogus.

Only way I will use this site is if it's not heavily moderated by Disney. I don't want just positive reviews. We like to read the negative reviews to see where people had issues. I really don't see Disney allowing posts along the lines of "I had a horrible experience at X". Believe me, I have a few I could leave, for places like The Wave, Whispering Canyon, POP Century etc. I doubt any would make it past the negativity police because they are all related to issues we had and Disney doesn't like to broadcast the negative.

For example, I've stopped seeing an ad in my Facebook feed telling Canadians it's a good time to visit WDW after getting over 200+ negative comments.

I just posted a review for The Wave based on our last experience there. Want to see if it shows up as I posted it.

I've just spent a little time on the site, and it appears there are bad reviews along with the good. Perhaps with competition from TripAdvisor and other review sites, WDW will feel the need to keep it real...

I got the email too and checked out everything under the attractions. Either they aren't taking out bad reviews at all or didn't get to them when I looked. Stitch's Great Escape had an overall rating of less than two stars and every review I read was bad

I look for what appear to be independent reviews. I can't imagine anything less independent. ;)

I don't think it would work for me. I go to trip advisor. Sort the reviews so I am reading all the horrible ones. Once I am done reading those if most of the complaints are personal issues/taste/unrealistic expectation comments I'll give the place a chance. If it is structural like issues with building, policies etc I will reconsider.

Anyone noticed a trend to banish bad reviews?
