I am really starting to get worried. :rotfl: Our 17 year old dd just completed her 14th trip. :scared1: Now we became DVC members Jan. 07 and we went to Disney three times in 07 and now the same for 08. Next year I am planning one stay in the summer. I would like to be able to go for maybe 8-10 nights and BE FINE WITH THAT. How hard is it for you all to NOT WANT TO GO ALL THE TIME. I stretched our July trip out to 14 nights. We combined points with 4 dvc discounted cash nights. I realize we all have accomodations because we are dvc members but then you add up the airfare, food, shopping.............these trips really zap your wallets. :scared1: I love going, love being there, always bummed to leave but then REALITY SETS IN WHEN WE GET BACK and I really SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE what we spent. :scared:

I need a DVC intervention.............I need to realize that it is okay to go once a year...or shoot maybe every other year.

It's okay to go once a year or once every 2 years. It does build up the anticipation more and keeps it fresh.

Plus it saves dough.

We have been going every spring break since before we were DVC members. This will be the first year we have ever gone twice in a twelve month period. So yes, it is okay to go once a year. But I'd go more if I could.

Since joining DVC last August we have been twice, Oct 14 nights and May 19 nights, plus we are going again in December for 1 nights  Had 400 developer points to use. After December we may not go in 2009 but will be back in 2010.

Claire ;)

To us, once a year is never enough! We go 10 nights in October and always try to sneak in another 6-7 night trip in the spring. The anticipation is part of the fun and we always find something new or different to do when we are there. It's only the two of us so it is easier to plan. Sons and daughters are grown but we did go with DD and her husband this past spring.

We go four times a year, with each visit being at least 8 nights.

Every other year?! I'd die!! Like Mike, we go about 4 times a year. But then, it does help to be within driving distance. We can bring our groceries from home and compared to airfare, the gas doesn't seem so expensive.

We have a schedule that we tend to follow. We get APs for a trip and then try to get in 3 trips before they expire (say, Dec./Feb./Oct.). Then we wait until the following year and do it again. So we have one year on and one year off but we take several trips in the one year on. In the off year we tend to spend a week at Hilton Head.

We took a bit of a break from that, however, and haven't been to WDW since 10/06. We did do a DCL cruise in that time though. We've also used our points to visit Disneyland and Sedona, AZ. We'll be starting our "schedule" again this year with a 2-week stay in December, followed by a 2-week November stay next year. I'm hoping for another trip in there somewhere, but we'll have to see.

We go a t least 2 times a year since becoming DVC members. Sometimes we squeeze in 3. I find when Im there, I can relax and know I will be back. But once home, I long to be there. We own at VWL, so just being there keeps me happy. I love the parks but I love being at the Lodge too. I found myself yesterday longing for WDW. I told DS you know where I wish I was, and he responded WDW:goodvibes

2 times in 12 months (usually 8-11 months apart) and then skip a full year+ then repeat.

boy how do you do it?

have to go at least 4 times each year (although because of gas prices trying to only go twice - but more days)

been in March, May and soon Sept.

hope that is all this year.

next year - May and Dec (okay maybe Oct too)

if not Oct -then March of the next year.

I used to go once each year in Spring. Then I got the idea that there were often cheap airfares and if we had AP's, we could book extra trips for long weekends when such fares popped up. Those APs were the beginning of the end of annual trips! Once we got the AP's we scheduled two trips per year, spring and December. Then we decided since we were going so much anyway, DVC would be a great idea. Once we bought DVC, MORE trips each year sounded like a great idea since we already had the accomodations (we added on twice) and the AP's! See where this is headed????

THIS year I'll be going 5 times. 4 trips to WDW and 1 surprise trip to Disneyland Paris when I was able to add days to a business trip. Next year I think we will settle in to a 3 times per year plan. Spring, Oct and Dec. Maybe.

We go 2 - 3 times a year....looking to add on BLT, and that will change to 3 - 4 a year. Dh and I constantly have WDW on our minds (we buy AP's so I want to use them as much as I can). LOL I couldn't imagine not going every year or only going once, it would drive me crazy!! I have addonitis, and missed this past weekends gathering....I would have definately added on, and am sick about it!!!

We are kind of on a schedule as well. This is our "off year", so we went in March for 10 days, but let our APs expire and bought new vouchers right after we returned. We will redeem those vouchers in January when we take our next trip. The we will be going in May and December next year also. That means that 2010 will also be an "off" year, so we will likely do only March again that year.

New Disboards member here...just joined and have been fishing around to see what types of discussions are going on in each board.

I go to Disney usually between 30-40 days a year, in trips of 4-5 days at a time every few months. I've been with DVC (Home: Boardwalk) since 1996 and have 440 pts. I was just up there July 26-30, and I'll be back there Sep 6-10.

I'm a 'local' in that I live 2 1/2 hours south by car.

Sure you CAN go only every other year....Sure you can find other places to vacation...or save money !! But for me....I don't think I could survive the withdrawal pains !!!

Before DVC we went approximately one every 5 years (maybe even less) . Then DVC came along and we went twice a year...adults only in the fall, kids in the spring. The last few years we have taken three trips. Adults in the fall, kids in the spring and one more in the winter or spring (kids optional, depending on the mood!)

It definitely has cost us money in airfare and add-ons, but we are loving every minute of it, always anticipating each future trip. We also do the year on/year off thing with AP's. We bought one for this fall and so we will definitely have three trips in those twelve months. Then we will wait again.

So what does a year on and a year off with AP's mean?? Are you skipping getting AP's but still going to the resorts? Or are you skipping a year altogether and not going every other year??

I laughed so hard at this thread!! I know exactly what you mean about needing an intervention. :rotfl: We are getting to the same point in my family. Since we joined DVC we've been going twice a year, but I'm planning to add on points so we could do a weekend or two when we can find cheap flights. And in between visits we whine all the time that we want to be back there right away. You'd think we'd be getting tired of it, but oh, no, it's an addiction.
