Poll- DLH or HoJo's

I love both!

I can't decide.

I love saving money and I enjoy both building 1 and 2 at Hojo's but I love the Magic of the DLH.

I wouldn't want to have one of the theme park view rooms at Hojo's with the trees blocking the view, though.

you know if you think about it, unless you have little babies that actually take them back to the room early, or if you are just one of those rare people who goes back early why would you pay more to have a room view at hojo...for the majority of us we are at the park all day and night so what benefit would it be for most people? I can understand a room view at DLH but not hojo

I think you have a valid point for a lot of DIS'ers here...

Here's another point -

We live far, far, away... (not as far as Shrek, I'm sure.) For us, saving money is very important, since we have to pay for flights, travel insurance, hotel, meals, etc. etc. (as do so many of you DIS'ers as well.) Saving money, if we can get the Hojo entertainment rate is an awesome opportunity, and since we dream and so long to just set foot on Disneyland ground from the day we leave our Northern Canada home, it is SO worth it for us to pay the extra $15 a night (entertainment rates, comparing Park View to standard, etc. rooms) for the 'Disney Park View' just to see the Park when we are in our room at night, and not another hotel building, etc.... for us, if we take the kids back early one night to sleep and if we can't watch the fireworks, we could sit on the balcony of the room view and really enjoy the ambience, even if a tree is blocking the view a bit - we could still see the people walking to and from the park. We can just take it all in. The magic of it all. I don't know if any of you ever wistfully log in to the hojo webcam just to view IT - but we do that a lot, and one night when by chance I logged on during the fireworks, I was so excited to see them on the cam. I often think that an extra expense isn't worth it - but in this case, it is totally worth it (an extra $15 per night) NOT to miss out on a chance to have a room view, even if it is just a bit of a room view. ;) We just can't tell you how much Disneyland means to all of us, as a family. We sure wish we lived closer to the park.

the thing about dlh is 24 7 disney ambiance vs. once I walk to the front its over....

I feel a bit differently than you, about leaving the park (IF I know I get to come back the next day, and am not going home! :scared1: )

I feel the magic anywhere near the park - we are always amazed at how many people drive by in their cars, seemingly oblivious to the magic of it all, LOL! We find the magic in looking at the Mom with tired tot sleeping on her shoulder as they head out of the park, with Mickey Mouse balloons in tow. The magic is in the walk back, as you hear everyone singing the songs from the rides, as they cross the street to go back to their hotels. DL magic is always close by, and never dies.

Long live DL magic/ambience! :wizard: :)

havent stayerd hojos yet will in oct. i would chose hojo over an extra 100 a night. dang i know my big thing is the firework view if i was to stay dlh i still couldnt get a view for there cheap price. ill just stay with hojos.

my dh says like in three years we want to try dlh but only for a special time

Eh, we found Hojo too noisey. Never had one good night sleep, in one of those view rooms. We spent our last night at the DLH, in a standard room. This was the view of the fireworks we had. Could even see the tip of the Castle. Not to mention having the music playing on the TV really made it special:

I'm pretty sure our view room at Hojo's would have had a tree blocking part of the fireworks view. But for us it's no contest, DLH all the way! :) To each their own of course. We were just not ones that really cared for Hojo's.

For the ones who find Hojo noisy, do you live in a remote area, or do you live in a city? I'm asking, as we live in a city, with railroad tracks behind us (sounds like Aliens, - loud, screechy sound, LOL!) many a night, as the trains hook up, and start up, etc.) as well, we have a fairly busy road by our home, but we find we have basically blocked out all that noise over the years of living here.

So my question is: Do any of you live in a bustling city (those who find the Hojo noisy), and if so, which building were you in, or, is it that some of you live in a more remote area, with less traffic, and still find Hojo to be noisy, and if so, which building were you in?

I've often wondered that, and hope some of you will answer this question about noise. Thanks! :)

Well we don't live right next to a freeway, or street where buses come and go constantly. So no if that's what your asking! ;) We also don't have echoing people talking in an enclosed hallway all night, and no Grad nights that you can hear everything that's going on! ;) That would be like having maybe a loud teenage party going on next door I guess!

We had a view room in Building 1. On the very end next to Manchester. If we ever decided to stay there again, we'd go with a more quiet pool view in another building. And for sure not during the weeks they have Grad Nights at DL. But odds are we'll stick with the Tropicana, just a personal preference!

I totally agree. I would love for the chance to stay on site, but that is just not in our budget when flying alone is $2000.00 for our family of 3 :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: never mind anything else. When we go in November we will be staying for 9 nights. I would rather save on my hotel (as long as it is not a dive) and spend my money on other things. I had origonally had us booked at CCI, but when I realized that we could stay at HOJO for $600.00 cheaper with the entertainment rate, I snapped up that instead.
So I guess I am in a long way trying to say that I would rather stay some place cheaper and spend my money on something that may last longer than a nights sleep.

I totally agree with you as well. Last year we stayed at the Fairfield Inn a couple of nights and there was still lots of Disney all around us. I think that it is all a state of mind. I am just happy that I am able to take a trip like this with my family. You will find "Disney" all around you whether you stay on sight or not.
