Ugh, I just keep going back and forth on what to do, so I figured I would take it to the experts.

Background: Our kids will be 4.5 and just shy of 2 when we are in Disney in January. We will also be traveling with my in-laws. Bedtime at home is 8:30pm, but they both do relatively well with the occasional later bedtime.

I booked the Dessert Party at our 180 day mark, either not paying attention to times or the times weren't released, I don't know. When I was booking my FP+ I realized Wishes is at 10pm the night of our dessert party.

For those of you with/have had little kids, what would you do? To add to the issue, it is our last night and we have to be up and out of the hotel by 8am the next morning and on our way to the airport.

Maybe the kids will sleep on the plane. When DS was 6, we skipped most of the late shows, since we were doing RD and AM EMH as much as possible. I think we did one late night. Could you go back for a nap during the day? Maybe take a longer than usual nap.

Thanks! I could probably give my 22 month old a late nap, but the 4.5 year old hasn't napped in 2 years, so it would probably be pretty hard to get her to fall asleep. I'm leaning towards just cancelling everyone, or sweet talking grandma and grandpa to stay back with the kids and hubby and I still go. They are already giving us a Cali Grill date night earlier in the week, so I will have to see how that goes over.

For my kids, it's generally a disaster to keep them up late, fill them full of sweets, and then expect them to go to bed as soon as we get back to the resort. Plus, unless you're staying at the Contemporary/BLT and can walk back to your resort, you're looking at an hour minimum to get back to your resort after Wishes.

I'm not a fan of keeping kids up too late past their bedtime. Will a 2-year-old even like Wishes? But, since it's the last night, I might make an exception (provided that you are prepared for cranky, tired kids on your flight home).

We actually are at BLT so it will only be the walk back, and they both did enjoy fireworks this summer at baseball games/4th of July, but being at BLT I'm sure we will catch them from there at some point in the week anyhow.

I just hate cancelling something that is so hard to get. If reservations weren't so tough I probably wouldn't think twice about cancelling, given the circumstances. ha!

Thanks for everyone's input. We generally don't think twice letting the kiddos stay awake late, they both have done well at parties, etc. passed 11pm, but the day of travel the next day of travel kills it for me though. Thanks to those who took my poll :)

We did the party last June with my almost 2 & 8 year olds. The kids loved the desserts and the 2 year old fell asleep on my DHs shoulder just before the fireworks started. One of the best memories DH has of the whole trip!

My dd does well with late nights so take this for what it is worth(each kid is different and some require strict schedules), but we did the dessert party with our DD on our last trip. She was about a month shy of 3. She did fine. She loved the fireworks and the desserts. We liked that we had a view of the fireworks without it being crazy crowded. We are actually doing the dessert party again this trip. DD will be 4.

We did the dessert party with 10pm Wishes when the kids were 5 and almost 3. They both did really well. The little one was slightly tired toward the end, but then woke up enough to go do Enchanted Tales w/Belle after with no wait while the crowds died down. We have it scheduled again in March.
