The closings are public record, DVC News does a monthly sales report saying how many points were sold and what % of the resort remains. Only caveat is the information is a couple weeks stale as it can take a week or two for the recording to show up on the county comptroller site.
30 days for direct contracts from signing to recording I believe. When I bought I wasn't closed for 30 days and recorded same day, which was odd because you only have 10 days to rescind but I wasn't "officially" a member with full benefits, transferring points for example, until that was done.

Oh yeah, duh, I totally forgot about that. It's great that people track that.

Unless Disney publicly releases sale numbers about DRR (or they're leaked), I think the only way we'll have a clue how sales are going is by the pace of the price increases.

Maybe I am reading too much into it, but I have a feeling that DVD intentionally priced DRR lower just to gauge how much impact the resale restriction might have on sales as many people feel the opening price is lower than anticipated. Thus, I won't be surprised with a price increase soon as most reports here point towards a smashing success for early sales.

I think the price will rise quickly. Maybe it’ll be a sneaky price increase by them simply taking away incentives but keeping the ppp the same. Maybe it’ll be something more blatant like a ppp increase AND a reduction in incentives. Who knows?!?

I don't think they'll reduce or eliminate incentives. I could see the base price being increased. People like to feel like they got a deal.

Sorry. You must have old information. With direct points from Riviera you can book at any other DVC resort at 7 months. #pointchartpitch

I will say, that I was all: "I've seen enough, thanks for your time" at our first DVC tour, until the guide whipped out the BWV and AKV charts! They've learnt from experience that those charts sell.

Wait a second...you mean to tell me that your salesperson was using the BWV and AKV points charts to sell a resort other than those two? Did your salesperson at least speak to the difficulty of obtaining the lower point cost rooms in those locations at the 7 month mark?

"Why waitlist for sold out resorts, when switching at 7 months is so easy with Aulani points? The beauty of DVC is you have all these unique resorts available to you!"

(in all seriousness there is at least one guide using AKV Value and BWV Standard charts in sales pitches for CCV and probably now Riviera.)

And you KNOW that they will sell hard those tower studios point charts. "Look how cheap you can stay here!"
Oh they do, my guide tried to when I called. While I probably will buy in a year, I’m buying with the expectation of being in a preferred Deluxe Studio, a standard studio or a tower studio would be a pleasant surprise. I told my guide with the amount of owners I would have to be seriously lucky and hope DVC did nothing about walking to get a tower studio.

I know the resale restrictions, etc. I’m purchasing with the sunk cost mentality off the bat so I’ve set that expectation up and as of this moment I like the resort look and Skyliner idea. Though I’m a year out from buying, so I could change my mind. In the mean time, it’s not stopping me from telling DVC the restrictions are a mistake, but every time I say it I just am told that they can reverse them if it ends up being one.

I didn’t buy with the tower studios in mind at all either. We own BLT, and it’s tough to get standard view 1BRs and 2BRs for when we travel (when kids are out of school). I have to be on the ball at 11 months out. Sometimes, I may be able to get them at 9 or 10 months out, but they’re almost always gone by 8 months. That means I need to be an owner to get them. Everyone only talks about studios, and I know they’re the most sought after, but dedicated standard 2BRs are popular too as are standard 1BRs. For my dates next January, all the dedicated 2BRs are gone and only the LV 1BR is available. I want to stay in standard 1 BRs and 2BRs at Riviera. I would guess it’ll be like BLT, and I need to own there which is why we bought.

That might turn out to be a good assumption, LOL. We bought BWV in 1998 and still have those points. :) Good chance we'll keep them until the end. I'll be 89, if I'm still alive.

But do they consider a low resale value a mistake worth reversing? And would the "reversal" come in time for me? That is what is holding me back. I have to consider future resale values because of our ages. Not quite as important for younger buyers.
