Before I begin this trip report, I feel like I should offer a disclaimer of sorts. I am a self-proclaimed lurker. I have been reading these boards for quite some time, but this report will only be my second post. My first post wasn't even about Walt, Disney, or the vast World he created. It was about ghosts. Not even the Haunted Mansion ghosts. Just your normal, run-of-the-mill ghosts. I'll wait while you contemplate reading any further.

Okay? Awesome. My second and final disclaimer is that I am a reality television junkie. Specifically Bravo TV reality television. Specifically Project Runway. So, my trip report will be sprinkled with phrases such as "Make it work" and "Carry on." Just nod and smile like my boyfriend does. Er.

Now that all of the messiness has been taken care of, let me introduce myself and all of those involved in this little journey.

Jodi (20): Author of this trip report. Junior in college studying speech pathology and psychology. When I am not working at my thankless retail job, lurking here, or watching Project Runway, I can be found chained to my desk writing a literature review for my undergrad research project. I wonder what I will be working on more now?

Sam (20): Brave and loyal boyfriend. Also a junior, majoring in finance, at the same college I attend. Coincidentally, he also works at the same store as myself. Only I am his boss. :rotfl:

Shawna (28): My older sister. Like way older. Like almost 30 older. A fact that she hates to be reminded of on an almost daily basis. :confused3

Sal (30): Brother-in-law who bravely married into this family. Wasn't sure why I thought he was so brave until his first Christmas with us. My parents bought him a plaid poncho. At a gas station.

Mark (6): My tough as nails oldest nephew. Loves all things technological, the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears, and stealing Aunt Jodi's cell phone to take random pictures of passing cars, the sky, and dirt.

Jordan (22 months): The baby of the group. A real man's man. Can destroy any room within 15 seconds. Don't ever turn your back on this one. Very hard to please. Hardly cracked a smile at a character the whole trip.

Well. What next? Ah, yes. The actual trip. But, first a little history lesson. This trip, which occurred LAST June 4-11, was the first for everyone involved. So, actually, just subtract about 12 months from the ages of everyone listed. Makes everything more realistic. And, we only visited ONE Disney park. That's right. I said it. Just one. The Magic Kingdom to be more specific. And we stayed offsite. At a rental house. I know. I'm sorry. But, you see, here's the kicker. At the time of the trip, none of us were certified Disney fans. I certainly didn't "get" it. Sure, I enjoyed the classics. I'd seen some of the new stuff, too. I could sing (badly) the songs. But, that's not what I grew up on. I guess you could say I hadn't been touched by the magic. Yet.

Also, this was our first time in the Orlando area. Heck, in Florida. So, we wanted to experience a little bit of everything. Even....Universal Studios. EEEEEK. Crash. Bang. Fire. However, in the end (SPOILER ALERT), Walt Disney World cast its magical spell on my cynical little heart and I am now officially obsessed. I want to go back. I have to go back. And I will. Eventually.

So, if I haven't lost you yet, let me offer a brief breakdown of our vacation. Then you can decide if, when, and what you want to read.

June 4: Travel Day aka the van ride that would not end
June 5: Cocoa Beach Day aka the day I learned the ocean is REALLY salty
June 6: Magic Kingdom aka, well, there is no aka.
June 7: Wet N Wild Waterpark aka no, these children are NOT mine!
June 8: Islands of Adventure aka are you sure my flip flops aren't going to flip and then flop right out from under my butt?
June 9: Universal Studios aka the day I realized I am a complete commando
June 10: Shopping Day! aka the day my boyfriend contemplated flying home early
June 11: Travel Day aka the van ride that would not end. Again.

Well, that's all for tonight. I hope to add a little bit every day. Every other day. Okay, quite sporadically. Thanks!

thanks for the first part of your vacation.....we love them all.......Now about the salty ocean remark.....I take it you dont live to close ......right?
Thanks again

Oh thank you! And I hope I didn't offend you or anyone. I actually prefer most older people to people my age. And when I say older, I just mean older than me. I'm pretty sure that deep down, I am 65 years old.
