Do you tip at Polite Pig? We were there today and the guy taking order asked if we wanted to add a tip to our bill. I asked if 10 percent was good since it technically is a QS and he said normally people do 18 to 20 percent. I tipped 18 but has this been the new norm there? I dont remember being asked to tip there on previous visits. The waitress does bring food and clean up your table but she only visited us once to deliver our food.

Did he verbally ask you or was it an option on the credit card swiper when you were cashing out? I don't recall leaving a tip at Polite Pig in particular, but I have seen other QS locations - both at WDW and outside of WDW - where you can opt to add a tip onto your total while cashing out. A lot of take out places at home do this as well. I know sometimes places must alter the total to add on any tip before it can be processed, but I don't think that's typical.

I personally wouldn't tip. I think it's odd that he suggested how much tip to give. I wouldn't think it would be any different than going to Mcdonalds or BK. If you have to get your own drinks, seat yourself, and get yourself refills, what would the tip go for?

I agree that I wouldn't tip, but they operate more like Chick Fil A or the inside seating at a Sonic where someone brings your food out to you at your seat. They also clear your tray and garbage. So I guess they could argue the tip goes towards that.

He asked if we wanted to add a tip to our bill and then he put it in on his register.

We were also asked to tip when we ordered in December. I said no.
I don’t like tipping on food and service I haven’t received yet. Other then carry a tray to my table, the servers didn’t need to do anything since I prefer to get my own condiments, drinks, and clear my own tray at counter service locations. If they are filling my drinks, getting condiments, etc.... I prefer to leave them a cash tip.

We went, we just ordered and took a seat. They brought our food and were more than happy to help us (I'm handicapped). We did give a tip to the person who offered us assistance. Not sure it's required though. (We always leave a cash tip, but hand it to the server helping us, never leave it on a,table).
