I agree with all, but doesn't some of the insults made by adults on this board scare you too?

You used those comparisons - it goes without saying that the actions of the posters on this board are not and should not be compared to such events.

You used the words "mob mentality" to describe the majority of the people posting on the topic, I called you on it. I'm just asking you to use reasonable terms to describe the discussion here, and to perhaps get a bit of perspective. I do understand the point I believe you're trying to make. But you're not going to convince anyone by calling the group here a mob or accusing us of rabid groupthink.

As the names of the minors have already been posted, they have not received the full protection of the law.

If the minors' rights under the law have been infringed their lawyers will deal with that, that will be a basis of appeal or defense or the basis of a separate action against the New York Post. It doesn't impact their *protection* under the law.

I am in agreement and believe that as adults, we must be responsible for our actions and be prepared for any and all consequences. I do however strongly believe that the minors should not have been identified.

I agree the minors should not be IDed. But get mad at the New York Post, not us.

Peace.

In all fairness they released all the names including the 14 year old, and even have photos of them online.
I have no problem with that. I hope they suffer the consequences and I'm GLAD it is public.

Maybe the next group of punks will think twice.

oh, I only saw the names of the adults and the 17 yr. old in the newspaper articles posted on this thread, sorry

I just found them myself while looking for articles. The 14 year old looks like a baby.. this is really sad.

Well technically I believe it's against the law. Then again it's also against the law for a 15 year old to be drunk. In Magic Kingdom. And spitting on people. And hitting cops.

Yet many posters, erroneously believing that the tasering was for spitting, have applauded it, (again, I believe that tasering to subdue the girl for attacking a police officer was appropriate) and have also suggested that they would have attacked the spitters had it happened to them.

What is your solution to this problem?

Instead of telling us all what we have been doing wrong, why not make a suggestion of what you think we should do next?

How should we proceed in this discussion?

What do you think I should do now? Forget everybody else, just tell me, what do you think is the right thing for ME to do next? I'm willing to entertain any and all suggestions you might have.

WHOA

I dunno, I can't figure it all out tonight, so I figure I'll just hang with your daughter (that's from a movie, the only daughter I'm interested in hanging with is my mother-in-law's daughter).

Props on the Say Anything Quote. The DW and I love that movie.

As for the story, I agree twith the many posters that there is probably nothing that "caused" them to act this way other than their own stupid, disrespectful brains.

I myself have been to a Six Flags where this was going on and the actors were merely underage cowards and the worst part about it is that even if they are spitting on people, it would be considered assault for me or any other adult to step up and do something about it. At the very least, these previously unlawful felons would most likely hire an attorney and suddenly become model, church going family-types (afterall, they have ababy together) and then sue me for damages.

There is no mention of what happened before they were detained, but I commend the CMs and security in dealing with this. As for the Officer, I think Disney should give him a Lifetime Pass.

I am not mad, nor rabid, just disappointed that all 3 minors have been identified in this thread. Yes, it was the Post that published the name of the 17 year old, and identified the other 2 minors as the siblings of the 17 year old (thereby identifying them) but that information was posted on this thread and it is that in which I am disappointed. Do not mistake the concern that I have over Disers posting the names of minors charged of a criminal offence (and also in the Mods in allowing that information to remain) with compassion for the offenders. Although you disagree with the term "mob mentality", I do believe that as defined, the herding exhibited regarding those that chose to wait for both sides of the story, or towards tasering as just punishment for spitting, the term was accurate. Is it mob mentality at it's worst, of course not; but that does not mean that the behaviour wasn't exhibited.

WillCAD, I don't think that there is a right thing for you to do as I do not believe that you posted the name of the minor. What can we do? Encourage the mods to remove the name and links to the name of the minor. I believe that the post has erred in publishing that information and I hope that the Dis will not continue to follow suit.

We had a spitting incident when I was there with my family last May...we were in line for Big Thunder Mountain behind a Brazilian tour group of 14-16 year old boys....we loaded onto the ride...and ended up in between several of these boys... so you can guess what happened...it was gross, during the ride when we were going up the hills , the boys in front of my family were spitting.... i assume they were doing this to get their friends in back of us...but unfortunately it ended up on myself and my DD and DS...it was awful... you could see the splatters all over our shirts and thankfully we had sunglasses on, or ewww....

Hopefully your reported them once your returned to the unloading station!!!??? I sure would have....even if my family and I had to hold them down so they did not make a quick get away.

Last month I was walking towards TOT and a man in front of me spit loudly off to his side and it landed on my leg. I actually was so shocked that I sort of screamed and it must have had tobacco in it because my leg stung for an hour. I went in to the confectioner store to get napkins and felt like crying. Later I saw him and his 2 overweight sloppy boys using those misting fans to bother people that were walking by and laughing about it.

I did not say that the girl was tasered for spitting, I am well aware that this was not why she was tasered. However, view the posts on this thread and you will see many posts where people have applauded the tasering because she spit. The spitting is disgusting but what have we become as a society if we think it is appropriate to use possible deadly force (hundreds have died after being tasered) because we were spit on.

While we are talking about misinformation, 'hundreds' have not been killed by the use of tasers. As per a CBS study, 70 people have died after being tasered, but in the majority of the cases, the actual cause of death is from the drugs they ingested, and the fact that they were so high, that they required numerous shots to be subdued. Another cause, is the drug mixing with adrenaline created after the battle, which is why jail guards are trained to recognize symptoms of Cocaine Hysteria, and Positional Asphyxia.
Most people do not realise, that the officers that use tasers, pepper spray, and ASP batons, have to be fully trained in their use, consequences, and how to decontaminate. In the case of tasers and pepper spray, this includes being subjected themselves. After being pepper sprayed twice, I would hesitate to use it, but believe me, pepper spray or a taser, is far less 'lethal' than the ASP baton, a 16-22 inch expandable metal rod, with a small ball on the end. Pepper spray and the taser are listed as a less than lethal force option.

Calgarygary,I dont think people are saying that if you spit you should be tased,(although if you spit on me or my family you will get knocked out :faint: ) Also, they are all lucky that the police officer had a taser, because if iam not mistaken they can shot if they are attacked.

now what they did was wrong, but why throw this insult in there: 2 overweight sloppy boys? Do overweight people tend to act like this? Of course not, but when you generalize, it isn't nice.

she didn't generalize, she merely described the kids. She didn't say all overweight people are slobs, or all overweight people are disgusting spitters, but that these kids were overweight and slobby.

but why the need to put the overweight and sloppy in there. People are people..

I think there is a huge difference between overweight adults and overweight kids. I am probably stereotyping but if I see two overweight brothers I am going to figure there is a problem with that father's parenting and judgement. Hence the spitting and unwanted misting.
