How does you insulting me make you any better of a person than those that allegedly spit and curse at Disney :confused3

Not looking to excuse their behavior, and they certainly got what was coming, but as to why they think they could/should, is it any different than the paris hilton type examples that teen popculture is full of?

I am sure that is the case and I really feel sorry for those decent people in Long Island. Being from South Mississippi there are plenty of stereotypes about us. I hate it when people assume that all people from the south can’t read, don’t wear shoes, have no teeth, etc. I promise I won’t make that generalization about Long Island.

I'm a transplant from Ms... I now live in the town the idiots are from.. People are the same whereever you go...I have met some of the best people in my life here.. and have seen some of the worst..I'll be there in August I'm from Shirley and will be bringing my manners just like I was taught as a kid.

That is awful..Especially spitting and cursing around young children.

Yea I have a problem with people spitting:scared:

I didn't say that. I'm just saying that all of us (I assume all of us) weren't there to witness. I can't judge if I wasn't there to see it.

I didn't see the attack at Pearl Harbor, nor did I see the invasion at Normandy, does that mean it didn't happen?

that's a horrible comparison to make and not what I meant at all. That's a terrible disservice to the "greatest generation".

I'm just saying that we didn't see it happen. We really don't know all what happened because we weren't there.

Sure have been plenty of insults flying around at people we don't even know...

If you read the police report that was posted earlier, you'll find out everything you need.

Can I throw in my two cents?

The trouble with kids these days is...the ADULTS. Kids are not in control of the movies, television, video games, Internet content, reality shows, and/or what is taught (or not taught) in schools. Adults are. We are only reaping what was sown.

Luckily, there are plenty of adults who are responsible parents, aunts, uncles, teachers, police officers, etc., who are great role models for kids. It is time we all stood up and shout "Enough is enough". Our children deserve the right to be children, not mini-adults wearing adult clothes, watching adult movies, or listening to adult music. Childhood is short enough. Why do you think we are all such fans of Disney and the magic?

Just my two cents. Thanks for noticing.

See that's what I didn't understand about the US judicial system, innocent until proven guilty by a police report. I'm not saying that these folks didn't do the terrible behaviour that they are accused of but this thread is a great example of mob mentality. We have had erroneous information posted as facts (adults arrested were the parents), we have had the websites posted and the names of minors posted and we have attacked people who have had a wait and see attitude. Frankly I'm glad that I'm in the minority and do not believe it is right to punish (through public humiliation) the accused prior to a trial even if I disagree with their apparent behaviour.

I have seen the names of the 2 adults posted, where did I miss the names of the youths? Attack police officer....get what you deserve!

Two quick points:
  • The websites posted were not private, but public pages on the internet's most popular networking website (or they were-- after her MySpace page was posted on several forums, including Fark.com, Ms. DiPietro has changed her page's access to private).
  • The name of the minor who was tased was released by the New York Post, and not by anyone on this site. Some people speculated that the minor was one of the contacts on either Ms. DiPietro or Mr. Guilfoil's pages, but that was only speculation.

Links have been posted that gave the minor's name. I do believe that if you attack a police officer that you should get what you deserve - a trial, a judgement and, if guilty, a sentence - not conviction by mob. Buzz, I did not say that the minor's name was released here on the Dis but rather that the name was posted - although you had to click on a link for that info.

We had a spitting incident when I was there with my family last May...we were in line for Big Thunder Mountain behind a Brazilian tour group of 14-16 year old boys....we loaded onto the ride...and ended up in between several of these boys... so you can guess what happened...it was gross, during the ride when we were going up the hills , the boys in front of my family were spitting.... i assume they were doing this to get their friends in back of us...but unfortunately it ended up on myself and my DD and DS...it was awful... you could see the splatters all over our shirts and thankfully we had sunglasses on, or ewww....

OK, just got back today. Did hear a guy arguing with his wife about whether or not he should have done what he did. His words to her that caught my attention, "He spat on me!" Then she started saying he shouldn't have done whatever he did.

After that, I moved away from them. A day or two later I get a call from a friend about that story and remembered the guy arguing with his wife.

Wish I'd listened harder...at the time I just wanted to move away from them. :)

I don't care if the kids attacked the cops or not. If they were spitting on folks and got tazered (sp?), GOOD. Punks deserved what they got, IMO.

You are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This does not say that citizens must presume innocence, just the courts. This is why there is a pretrial screening of prospective jurors. Until that trial, though, or the deal that will more likely be cut, all we have to go on is police reports, hearsay, and last but most certainly least, articles in the media.
