Points transfer restrictions?

What is your home resort and/or what resort contract did you have them transfered into? If you don't have a BWV contract, you (or the transferer) must have given very clear directions to MS during the transfer.

I had BCV points transfered into my VWL contract and they became VWL. I had to jump through a few DVC hoops to get them rerstored to their original resort.

I have a small BWV add-on contract, so maybe that's where they put them? Makes sense as to why I've never had any problems with them becoming VWL or BCV points (we own there, too).

I recently had points transferred into my account. Surprisingly, the points did not retain their use year. I have an October use year, but the transferred points were February. I assumed that the February points would be 2005, which would have worked for my December 2005 vacation. However, member services told me that the points were 2004. I had to bank the transferred points in order to make my reservation. This wasn't a problem since I was still in my banking window.

Isn't this a system glitch, and not the actual rules.

Don't the rules state that points transfered retain their original uy and resort.

If the rules state one thing, and the system has a glitch that causes the reality to differ from the rules, then I suspect it will be fixed quicker if more people take advantage of it.

The rules say this but it's not what happens.

Back to the other question. MS has significant flexibility when dealing with multiple but separate contracts of a single owner. Things that may be outside the usual rules are handled on a case by case basis. In some cases they will transfer even banked or borrowed points but usually for special circumstances. Things like getting enough points together to complete a single days reservation. Or for exchanges that must be in a single account like CC, ADV Col and the like.
