Points Transfer Guidance Needed

We own at both HH and OKW and are interested in securing a grand villa at OKW for summer, 2006. With banking and borrowing of our OKW points, we will be just a few points shy of the amount needed for a 7 night stay. We have a fellow DVC member who owns at OKW who is willing to "loan" us the needed points via a transfer. We are getting conflicting info from MS and aren't sure how to go about the process and make sure that the points needed for summer, 2006 are in our account when it comes to the 11 month mark in summer, 2005. We have a June use year and our friends have a Sept use year. We have been told by MS that transferred points can't be banked yet another MS rep says they can be? Which is correct? If transferred points can't be banked, how do we guarantee that the transferred points we need are put into our 2006 account so that they are available for a 2006 reservation (being made in summer, 2005) We will be using all of our personal 2005, 2006 and 2007 OKW points for this reservation and would like to avoid having to wait until the 7 month mark to secure the final night with non-OKW points. Has anyone done such a transfer and how did it work? Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

Regarding transferred points and banking:

1. Transferred points can be banked.

2. Banked points cannot be transferred.

There's a subtle difference there. Your friend can transfer points to you and you can then bank them if desired. So he can transfer his 2005 points to you and you can then put them into 2006.

Your friend cannot first bank the points and then try to transfer them. If your friend has already banked his 2005 points into 2006, then he can no longer transfer them to you.

Perhaps this is why you were seemingly getting different answers from two different CM's? It might be in how the statement was phrased.

Keep in mind that transferred points are suppose to maintain their original resort and use year month. However in practice they seem to adopt the resort and use year of the new owner. But you should be aware of this anyway.

Thanks for helping Caskbill. Once June 1st rolls around, I'll get in touch with MS and start the transfer process. Our friend has 2005 points to help us reach the needed points.
