We have a June UY. We are planning to book a 2BR at BCV in late October for us and my brother and SIL. They are building a house and being their own contractor. In the event something will come up and they will not be able to get away, what are my options? DH and I would still go but we would change from 2BR to Studio. Would we have to use the points before June of 2007? Or could we (prior to June 2007) book a ressie for a stay sometime after June 2007? In other words, do the points have to be used or just booked before the June 2006 UY runs out? I've always wanted to go to DL and we could do that in the spring of 2007, so that's an option. Also what about II options? I know I could deposit them, but when would they have to be used?

Thanks for all your help.

With a June Use Year, the points would be returned to your contract and could still be banked as long as you cancel 31 or more days in advance. If you used points that cannot be banked (already banked from the prior year or borrowed), they must be used by May 31, 2007. The reservation must end by that date as expiring points can't be used for a reservation past the end of May (with a June Use Year).

Points could also be banked for the World Passport program and you would have 2 years to use them.

If you cancel the 2BR you can rebook as a Studio- based on availability.

Just to clarify, I was under the impression that if a ressie was made, the points had to be used in that use year and could not be banked?

Thanks for all your help.

If you cancel a reservation 31 days or more out, the points are returned to your account with the exact status they had before the reservation was made.

If you make it with regular use year points, they are still eligible to be banked, subject to banking deadlines. The points are returned and it's as if you never made the reservation in the first place. The key here is that you must still be within your normal Banking Deadline dates.

In fact, besides still being able to be banked, they could even be borrowed if you're still in a prior year. (EG you have a June UY, make a reservation now for August 2006, using regular 2006 points. In February you cancel the reservation. Those 2006 points are returned to your account intact. You may bank them into 2007, or borrow into 2005 for example, to make a May 2006 reservation)

If you make any kind of reservation that also used some banked or borrowed points, those points are returned to your account but still maintain the status of banked or borrowed. As such, those points cannot be banked (or borrowed) again into a different use year, but any regular allocation points you used, CAN be banked, or borrowed.

Hope this helps.

Mona, you may want to book a 1BR and a studio rather than a 2BR. I wish I had done that last year when I booked a 2BR at BWV standard view for early December ( I let MS talk me out of it). I invited a couple of co-workers who backed out in Sept. (both had valid reasons). So at that point I was in the 2BR by myself. It all worked out in the end (other friends went).

You can't drop one part of the 2BR. What happens is the original ressie is canceled and you have to rebook. If you're going at a popular time, what you want may not be available.

Just a thought.
