Hello... We are always going to Florida to WDW. I have family in California and we were thinking about using our points. I know you can use them at the 3 hotels near the park...
My question is --- can you use points to get a suite as opposed to a regular room?....

Thank you.

NO, just standard, preferred type views and Concierge. You could always ask at check in about an upgrade for cash. DL is the only place using points I've ever heard that being possible but it is dependent on the whims of the CM when you check in. It's not something you can arrange ahead of time.

You absolutely can use points for a suite. We just did at the Grand Californian. It is very costly but we decided to cancel a cruise and needed a good way to use the converted points. We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was really wonderful. The GC was worth it and I would definitely do it again. In Dean's defense, this is not published knowledge. (and that I do not understand) I learned about it here ...You have to call and ask MS but it is possible to book a suite on points at any of the 3 Disneyland hotels.

Glad to know it is an option. Thanks for passing along that info.

It has often made me wonder what other options are out there that I am not aware of. I make it a policy now, if I have the desire to stay somewhere special or in a special room category and it is not listed, I ask anyway. Can't hurt right?

That's so true like Cat 3 on DCL and II trades of studios and 3 BR units. But as the saying goes, careful what you wish for.

Thanks Dean and Hulagirl....

I have a trip booked for December in Orlando but we might have to cancel and I figured we can do Disney California since I have family there and hubby was never there... I need a suite with 2 kids!... ugh!....;)

Thanks again!....

I am going to check it out.
