Points question (banking and using)

I have a couple of questions:

1) If you bank points from your current UY, can you only use them in the following UY or can you "unbank" them during the last 4 months of the current UY?

2) When you have banked points do you have to let MS know you are using them or will they automatically use your oldest points first?

1 - Banking is a final operation. You cannot unbank points. Same with borrowing. You cannot put them back once they are borrowed.

2 - They are supposed to use banked points first, but you may want to make sure that they do.

While you can't "unbank" points, if you find that you want to still travel during the current Use Year you can borrow points from the next Use Year and still take that trip!
