points in holding

Is there any chance DVC woudl grant me an oops? I had no idea I had points in holding as I had booked a whole bunch of rooms for a group trip in November that were changed multiple times. Today I found out I have 90 points that need to be used before Aprill 1st and unfortunately there is no way that is happening for us. Is it worth it to ask DVC to make an exception and move them out of holding?

Even if DVC allows them to be removed from holding, you are well past your banking window for an April use year. You would be asking for two rule exceptions. It never hurt to ask, if you've never had a prior exception...but I'd think the chance of them allowing both exceptions is slim. But still, you won't know until you ask.

1) Remove from holding status to normal status

2) Allow late banking

If they take them out of holding, they would still have to be used by March 31 (April use year?) because it's too late to bank. Are they in holding (cancelled less than 31 days before) or are current points that should have been banked? They sometimes make a once in a lifetime banking exception.

I totally forgot that I was outside my banking window. Darn! They are definitely in holding so you and Chuck are right, I'd be asking for two exceptions. Well, here's to hoping someone is looking for a last minute getaway and could use them!

That's true, if the points are not actually in holding status, but simply past the banking deadline, they may grant the one time super secret rule exception. But, again, either way, it doesn't hurt to ask Member Services.
