as others have said, there is no investment. it's a prepaid lease that expires at a certain point.
on feb 1, 2042, i won't own a real estate interest in OKW. i also won't owe any further fees on that real estate interest.
that's how i like it. (other timeshare owners have found that owning a fractional interest in a 60+ year old building isn't really worth that much...as most prefer to stay in newer, nicer places. it's hard to sell some timeshares for $1 on ebay...some owners pay thousands to get away from the perpetual maintenance fees.
DVC takes some of that stress away.)
DVC generously offered me the chance to extend my contract to 2057 for $25 per pt. ($15 per pt if i acted quickly.)
these days, i can get an OKW resale with pts to use right now for $50 per pt or so. that seems like a much better deal than paying even $15 per pt for pts that don't start coming until 2042...
