Points cut in half for WDW Hotels?

I spend half my money on WDW, and waste the rest.

Been gone a while so this may be an old rumor but the DVC guide at EPCOT said last night that the rooms points may go way down soon for the hotels to help availability. Example was under 20 points from 30 or 40. I still would not be interested though.

We'd be interested! :) We've used points for hotel stays before, either because it was a last-minute trip and there was nothing suitable with DVC or because we just wanted to do something different (AKL, Poly).

I'd believe it when I see it. The rumor was that DCL would go down and reports are it went up instead.

IMHO, in the majority of cases they should be under 20 points a night, but as to if they actually get to that price it will be interesting to see.
Sooner or later someone at Disney will realise that there is an excellent arbitrage opportunity by charging DVC members 20 points or so a night for non DVC hotels and renting out DVC rooms to the general public.

Personally I'd love the chance to sit at Disney, rent out non DVC rooms to owner for points and then use those points to rent out DVC rooms for cash to the general public. Pay me 10% of whatever I could turn them for I'd be more than happy.

they get more like 35%, I think that's one of the reasons the points are so high. I don't see them coming down to a reasonable level unless DVC is willing to say no to some of the resorts. Basically let them compete with each other for DVC's (and the members) business.

What I'd love to see is non-DVC resorts have a point structure that has weekend points be competitive with weekday points there. That way, I could switch from a DVC resort to a non-DVC resort when the points are so high on weekends, but I'd still be able to use my points. Does this make sense? Anyone think there's a chance-or am I dreaming?

It depends on the contract that DVC has with the other WDW resorts. They likely have a contract that reflects the weekend usage of the resorts in general and DVC specifically. And if they are having to pay more for the weekends, it will cost more points. But I'd love to see the points in general and especially weekends be more reasonable.
