points/cancellation question

if i book a nye weekend with my remaining '05 uy points and some points borrowed from '06 uy and then find that i must cancel the reservation some time after my '06 uy starts [and before my 30 day cancel date] - where will my points go?

i assume '06 points would go back into '06 uy - but what would become of '05 points?

If your reservation is during you 05 use year, then all the points have become 05 points and you must use them during that use year. If you are not too far into your 05 use year, you could bank some of the 05 points (depends on how far you are into the year), but the borrowed points would have to be used during the 05 use year. If you don't use them, you would lose them.

If you're going in Dec '06, your trip falls in your '06 UY, not your '05 UY, so you couldn't use your points as you describe in your post. Instead, you could bank your remaining '05 points and use those for your trip plus some '06 points (which would be "current year" points, not borrowed).

If you cancel the trip at least 31 days prior, both the banked '05 and the '06 points go back into your account and you would have until the end of your '06 UY to use them. The banked '05 points would expire at the end of your '06 UY but the '06 points could be banked into '07, depending on where you are within your banking deadlines.
