So Officially my vacation in June will be cancelled. I want to book for December but will to borrow some points (not more than half). These points aren't available until October. Since I am borrowing do I have to wait until October to borrow or can I borrow now? I hope that makes sense.

You can borrow now as long as your total borrowed does not exceed 50%.

If you have an October use year, the current use year (2019) points you used for the June reservation expire on 9/30/2020 and cannot be used for a December 2020 stay UNLESS you bank them. Your banking deadline is May 31 for those 2019 use year points. Be sure to cancel and bank those points before your banking deadline. If you used any points borrowed from 2020, MS has been returning them to the original use year.

With an October use year, your December vacation falls within your 2020 use year. To pay for it, you may use the banked points from 2019, the 2020 allocation and you will be able to use up to 50% of your 2021 allocation. (Of course it all depends on availability, too).

If any banked points from 2018 were used for the June reservation, you may lose them UNLESS DVCMC decides to extend banked 2018 points for October use years due to the closure. Since you still have time to cancel and bank, they may decide NOT to do that. If you are not going in June, be sure to cancel and bank what you can on or before May 31.

Points are deposited 3 years in advance. Your October 2020 points are in your account now, along with 2021 and 2022. So you can book your December now and even borrow 2021 (up to 50%).
