We currently have two 100 point contracts (BWV) with a December use year purchased in 2008 & 2014. If we purchase another BMV contract for 160 points via resale (same use year) versus direct will we lose our grandfathered in Membership benefits built into our first two contracts? We are trying to understand the downside impacts to our current contracts if we add a third resale contract to the mix. If there is potential to lose the benefits we may just bite the bucket and buy direct. Any DVC experts that can help educate us?

Im not an expert but adding resale doesnt take away your direct benefits. The only thing that takes it away is if you sell them.

Im not an expert but adding resale doesnt take away your direct benefits. The only thing that takes it away is if you sell them.

Exactly, as long as you own the points that are eligible nothing can change the eligibility.

Both of your others were direct? So you don't even need both to qualify, i would assume just one of them would qualify, but I'm not 100% on when things changed and when you bought them... at one point a 100point contract qualified.

I should have added that clarification, both contacts were purchased resale. Both contracts are grandfathered because the resale purchase dates were before the changes limiting benefits. Specifically the 2008 came with a blue dvc membership card. I appreciate the input.

I guess the key is that if you ever sell, you want to sell the 160 point contract and keep your grandfathered contracts.

Be aware that the new points won’t be good at RIV, VDH, and CFW and potentially future resorts, regardless of what else you own.

In terms of membership extras, you will have them as long as you keep at least one of the initial contracts.
