Point redistribution

I am thinking of selling some of our points at our less favorite resorts (I bought direct in several small packages) so that I can pick up more points at our favorite one. I figure now is the time, as the resale market seems pretty hot. I won't need the points for a year, so I can take my time finding a good resale contract.

Anyone else do this? Did it work well for you?

One the one hand, I like the idea of owning most of our points where we want to stay. I hate waiting for the 7 month mark. On the other hand, I almost always get what I want at the 7 month mark anyway. Dues are pretty much a wash between the two.

Any thoughts/advice?

We sold 300 points at SSR and 200 points at OKW and bought 500 points at VGF. We like to book at 11 months at our home resort.

Makes sense what you want to do. Having the 11 month window at places you don't care to stay all that much is a waste. Get the 11 month edge where you need it.

And yes, resale is heating up, so you should make some $$ on your sales which will allow you to cover your closing costs when you buy back in.

That's not I bad Idea, we did it once and I am thinking about it again. There is a benefit to having your points at the resorts you are most likely to use especially if you may travel during the busier times of the year. good luck
