If I book a trip for 8 nights using points from the current year and then decide to cancel one night (I will know about 6 weeks before the trip) what happens to those points for that one night? Do I get them back? If I do get them back, can I still bank them if it is within my banking time frame or are they now "unbankable"?

Points from a cancelled reservation will always be returned to your account. If the reservation was cancelled 31 or more days before the arrival date the points will have no restrictions.

If they were from the current Use Year, they may still be banked based on usual banking deadlines.

If they were banked points, they will need to be used by the end of the use Year of the cancelled reservation since they cannot be banked again.

If they were borrowed points, they will need to be used by the end of the Use Year of the cancelled reservation since they cannot be banked.

If the reservation was cancelled within 30 days of arrival, the points will be returned as "Holding Account" points and may only be used to make a reservation within 60 days of the arrival date.

If the reservation was for a non-DVC option (cruise, Concierge Collection, Disney Collection, etc.), the points will be returned in "Reservation" status and can only be used for another non-DVC reservation. These points cannot be banked and cannot be used at a DVC resort.
