Just wondering how much better the Water View would be over the Standard View. Is a water view going to guarantee a pool view or good view of the river, or might I still have a courtyard view with that? Has anyone had a Standard View that basically just overlooked a parking lot? If so, did they mind that view? The price difference in regular season with aaa discount is only about $15/night. Just can't decide which way to go. We will be there for our first 2 nights on site before switching to the Poly for 4.

I wouldn't pay more for a view at a moderate. You don't have a balcony to sit out and enjoy the view. The only way you can enjoy the view is to open the curtains and look out the window. Meanwhile people are walking back and forth on the walkways.

A water view could mean any slight view of water. If you have to crain your neck out a window to look for water, that is a water view. Save your money.

we had a courtyard view and it was lovely, I wouldn't have wanted a water view instead

We stayed at the French Quarter for thanksgiving. We booked a standard view and they gave us a courtyard view in building 2. I would not pay extra at a moderate. You don't have a balcony to sit on and there are no chairs to sit out and enjoy the view. And yes some of the standard views do look out over the parking lots.

we had water view last year

complete waste of money...if you walked out the door and then looked to the right, you could see the river

not worth it AT ALL...and the courtyards there are very nice

We booked a standard view but had a great view of the water and POR. It was beutiful but the only way to have seen it was to go outside and stand. (no Balcony) It wasn't private with all the people going up down .

Actually, most of the water views at POFQ are pretty nice, in comparison with other moderate resorts. With that being said, you could always book a standard room and request not to have a view of the parking lot (at least that ups your chances of a pretty garden view-- this is what we do), and perhaps you might even get upgraded! Sometimes I think it is nicer to be closer to the food court and bus stop than to have a certain view. We were in building 3 with a nice garden view and convenient to both the main building and the bus stop.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to book a standard view after reading these posts. With the FQ being a smaller resort, are even the farthest buildings that remote from the pool and main building?

We stayed at POFQ in Dec. It was great. We were in building 4.
It was a quick walk to the food court, pool and bus stop. It seemed that all the buildings were close to everything.
We also had a standard view, but it overlooked a pretty garden with plants, greens and benches. We didn't spend any time looking out our window though, so even if we would have had a parking lot view we would have been fine with it. I liked having the fridge, plus the curtain that pulls across by the sinks. We're definately staying at POFQ again in Oct.

These are great tips. We're staying there during Spring Break in a standard view room. Is there a building or a room number we should request?

I'm not long back from POFQ, we were there from Dec 26th until Jan 3rd. We had booked a standard view and were put in building 5, room 5202. We had a view of the hot tub and were only a stones throw from the food court and the pool. If we looked to the left from the window we could water from the pool (not a lot, but we could see some).

We booked a water view room at the PO once. We had the worst "view" of the river. I would not consider it a view, but Disney did. And for that, we paid more money.

Since then we have always booked standard view in the moderate resorts. Last time we were in the POFQ in April 04, we booked a standard view & were given a courtyard view. We had the standard view price & a better view then we did when we paid for a view of the water.

I always book standard when we stay in the moderates. We dont spend a whole lot of time in the room & even less looking out the window.

Now in a Deluxe, that is different. But in a moderate, I think the view is a waste of money.

The best way to avoid a parking lot view is to request building 2 or 5 with a standard view as there are no parking lots next to these buildings. I've always heard to request a 3rd floor room in buildings 1 or 6 for the best water view rooms as they will overlook the river and golf course accross the river behind Beaux Tie Island (love that name).
