That pretty much sums it up...we will be staying December 22-28th pre Disney cruise then back to SSR on Jan 2-6th. We previously stayed at POFQ and loved it but thought the Pirate themed rooms and pool at CBR might be fun for our boys. We will be relying on Disney transportation and I know that it was always great at FQ plus we love the boat to DTD and not to mention the small size of the resort. Since that week will be so busy we will need to find non park things to do some of the time to avoid the crowds and will probably be back at the hotel more than usual.

Anyone have any input on this? (Specifically in regards to Disney transportation that time of year at a huge resort like CBR.) DH and I have been going back and forth for the last week trying to make a decision. Go with something we know we love or try something new? This trip is all about our kids so we want them to enjoy it. We need to make a decision and get it booked, it's making me crazy! :confused3

Do ya want a tropical Christmas or a mardi gras Christmas :)

I'd probably choose CBR for something new. I think the transportation will be fine if you have a good frame of mind - its going to be busy! The resort will have some fun special activities while you're there. We made craft smore snowmen at CBR one afternoon during that time frame. Have fun!

We go in July which is also a busy time of year. We have stayed at CBR 3 times, 2 of those in Pirate rooms. We love the resort in general and love the theming of the Pirate rooms. As far as transportation goes we really didn't have any big complaints, service at CBR seems fine. There are different island "villages" around CBR and there is a bus stop at each village. Each park bus will stop at each village before heading out. There is also an internal bus shuttle that circles the resort for easy transportation from area to area throughout the resort. Transporation to Studios and Epcot are very quick, AK still a short trip, MK is the longest trip at I believe around roughly 15 minutes. As always there can always be issues that arriving making the bus system not run as smoothly. We have had mainly good luck at CBR. We waited between 0-20 on average for our bus when arriving at our bus stop. Buses try to run every 20 minutes.

Thank you! Did you ever experience full buses when they got to the stop at the Pirate Rooms? It appears that they are the last village to be picked up. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, is it really only a 7 minute walk to the food court (with a 5 & 7 year old)? One last thing, my DH wants to know what is on the island.

There are a couple different bus routes the drivers take, so it does deoend. However with most buses we encountered Trinidad South (where all pirate rooms are) was more likely than not the last one to pick up and drop off. We are not rope drop people (not sure on your vacation style), I can't remember a full bus heading out to the parks...possibly once or twice but certainly not an everyday occurance. I would say maybe earlier in the morning the buses might be more packed but by time we'd head out (around 10 and after) it was fine.
Unfortunately the pirate rooms are located in the furthest section away from the food court. It is manageable though, some people tend to over exaggerate distance :rotfl:. You can either walk over (depending on how fast you walk I'd say it is about a 7-12ish minute walk) or you can wait for the internal shuttle bus (but if you just missed the bus you could of walked over by time the bus comes by). We really don't really eat at our resort much so most of the time we went to Old Port Royale we got off there while heading back from a park. I can't really remember walking over there although we could of.
I'm not really sure what island you are talking about. If it what I am thinking it is part of the walkway from one side of the resort to the other. It is called Caribbean Cay, it is a scenic walking area with hammocks, cabannas and a playground along the way. I hope this helps :thumbsup2!
