We are adding 2 days onto the front of our vacation and have narrowed it down to either POFQ or POR. We will be spending our first two days (1 at the Magic Kingdom) and 2, taking advantage of the boat ride to Downtown Disney ( no park hopping) so bus transportation is not a huge factor. We are all about the foodcourt those two days so dining is not really a consideration between the two resorts .But we would really like to spend a lot of time having fun at the pool . Which of the two resorts would you recommend for a 5 & 6 year old? My DS5 is autistic so I am thinking the POFQ would be best simply because of it's smaller size...but my kids are love :lovestruc the pools.. thoughts?

I would think 5 and under would like the POFQ. But the 5 and above would prefer the POR. Not sure if that really helps or not. We will be staying at POR with our 4 year old. I may take him one day to the FQ to swim but most likely will just swim at POR. The FQ is very small with a small slide. Great for younger kids!!

It really just depends on your taste I guess!

POR's main pool is very private and seculded and a very short walk away from the food court. I love the "island" set up and you definately forget your in a resort sometimes! There's a good amount of seating and plenty of shade which is great if your planning on spending a lot of time there! Restrooms and changing areas are right off the pool deck. POR also has quiet pools which are nice to "escape" to if your DS is getting overwhelemd and ideal for a late night/early morning swim!

POFQ's pool has a more whimsical theme and the serpent slide is a lot of fun for kids of all ages! Just like POR, the food court is a very short walk away, restrooms are located just off the pool deck, a playground is close by, and there is a good amount of seating. POFQ's pool deck does provide shade, but not as much as POR's. We did feel that the POFQ's was larger but maybe that was just our preception! Keep in mind that POFQ does not have any quiet pools.

Always keep in mind that since these are sister resorts, you have access to BOTH pools no matter what resort you choose to stay at! It's a very scenic, enjoyable, half mile walk from building 1 of POFQ to the main building of POR.

I think we'd go with POFQ for the smaller size and easier access to the main pool and food court and definately take a stroll up to POR one afternoon/morning to try that pool!

I would choose POFQ for your family. Here are the two different pools.

Thank you for your responses..We looked at all the pictures with the kids and they LOVED the look of the POFQ pool...plus i think size wise it will really work well for us. :goodvibes

I think you'll be pleased with the POFQ's pool. It is very appealing to children. It is a more managable size, too. We are heading back there in April. DD13 really likes POR's pool area better, but we are going with my sister and her family that includes children 3 and 5 years old. Even DD13 admitted that POFQ is a better pool for the younger set. Since we go at least 2 times a year, she gave in on this for her cousins. Enjoy your stay.

Not sure when you're travelling, but the POFQ pool is closed until mid-March.

My kids loved the POFQ pool and water slide when they were little and some of my best WDW memories are them sliding down the sea serpant's long pink tongue/water slide over and over and over. But guests at PO and POFQ can use both pools, so you won't be limited to the POFQ pool if you stay at POFQ.

I am glad that someone posted those pics. I remember the pool slide being so much smaller last year when I was there. I would check into the pool closing though. Not sure of yoru dates of your vacation.
