We are currently booked for both hotels in May for 7 nights with a difference of $450 (actually $360 - must include cost of shuttle to and from airport to DTS). We also are getting free continental breakfast each day for all 3 of us at DTS. We have stayed at POFQ before and like the hotel, however the idea of a two room suite at DTS sounds really nice. We have a 4 year old and the additional room would be awesome. I know both rely upon bus transportation to the parks, albeit different companies. We usually only go to one park per day and try to do at least one water park.

Has anyone stayed at both? Anyone's thoughts though would be appreciated.:)

I have not stayed at Doubletree Suites, but for us - I think you lose something not being on property. I would rather stay at POFQ.

I would never stay offsite without a car. If you are going to rent a car--I say go for it!

I think you're better off posting on the Orlando Hotels board too. I think your results will be a little skewed here ;)

Doubletree Suites is wonderful. I have stayed there several times and also have stayed mutliple times at Port Orleans. You do give up the frequent bus arrivals and departures by staying off property but I understand Doubletree has dependable (if not as frequent) bus transportation to Disney parks. We have had a car when we stayed there before.

What would I do for seven nights? I would stay four at the Doubletree and the last three at POR. You get to experience both, save a little moeny, and end the trip with the truest Disney experience---staying on Disney property!

I personally love POFQ but I think if you prefer a suite then it will be okay. If they still offer a park shuttle like they used to you'll be fine. Especially only going to one park a day. We stayed at the Grovesnor in 2003 and didn't have a problem. They had greyhound size busses running to the parks every day.

I agree you do loose that Disney feel by not staying on site but if you're happier with the hotel then its an even trade.

It's a tough decision we will have to make in a couple of months. Thanks for all your opinions. It will help. :thumbsup2
