POFQ or CBR?

We've decided to try a moderate during our next trip, and I've decided to stay at the French Quarter or Caribbean Beach.

What makes one 'better' than the other? How long ago was CBR refurbished? Which CBR buildings are the 'preferred' rooms - and, since we'll probably book standard, are they too far away from everything?

I'm planning on booking two rooms, for 2 adults and 2 teens.

During the summer, will CBR or POFQ have the teen tour groups? Or, do they usually stay at the value resorts?

Thanks!

I stayed at both last year. POFQ in February and CBR in October & November. I liked both, but I would choose POFQ. POFQ has a small resort feel, nothing is really far. It only has 1 bus stop. If it would have still been open in the fall, I would have stayed there again.

We were in Barbados 15 in October, it wasn't too far from the food court, about a 5 minute walk along the lake.

Hi Cali :wave2:

All of the rooms at CBR were totally refurbished during 2001 and 2002. After the rooms were finished, they refurbished and slightly remodeled "Old Port Royale" which is the building which has the food court, sit down restaurant, arcade, and shops on it. The main pool and pool bar are right next to Old Port Royale.

The preferred buildings are Martinique 26, 25, and 24. As well as Trinidad NORTH 31, 32, and 33. Many people love staying in the Jamaica section which is just across the lake from Old Port Royale. You have to walk over a footbridge to get to a small island in the middle of the lake, then continue over another footbridge over to OPR. If none of the people in your party have any health problems or walking problems, then 2 adults and 2 teens shouldn't have any problem with not staying in a preferred location. I don't think any of the rooms would be too far away, EXCEPT for Trinidad SOUTH. To me, this section of the resort doesn't even seem like it's part of CBR. There's an actual road that cuts between CBR and Trinidad South. No way would I ever stay in this section. Just my humble opinion, so if anyone likes Trinidad South, don't flame me. LOL

The rooms at CBR all had privacy curtains added to them in the refurb, and it gives some privacy from the rest of the room when one person is finished showering and needs to change over by the sink area.

CBR rooms are the largest of all the moderates, and are about the same size as the standard rooms at AKL and WL.

In the end, when it comes to moderate resorts, I think going with the theming that you find the most appealing is a good idea :)

Hope this helps...and don't forget to take a look at my CBR pics! :sunny:

I've never stayed at POFQ but love CBR. We stayed at Martinique which is now preferred and were right near the bus stop and everything.

I would stay at the CBR becuase I love the island feel of the resort. It's a very pretty and fun resort.

It all comes down to the theming. I don't think you can go wrong with either but we love CBR.

We prefer POFQ. CBR does have a slight edge with us for theming, but we don't care for all the walking and bus stops. POFQ is just so much smaller. I know that you can request certain areas on CBR, but Guest Services and the food court are on opposite ends of the resort, so you're never close to everything.

If you like the theming at POFQ, I'd go there. I'm a New Orleans native, and I enjoy it because it feels like home without the beggers and pickpockets. :)
