staying there for the first time in Dec and want any info , tips comments anyone has for us. (2 adults, like it a little quieter after the parks)

A dear friend of mine stayed with her family right after they reopened. She is a huge Disney fan and we always discuss the trips like crazy whenever one of us gets back! They stayed 6 or 7 nights and she said the grounds are still nice, the common areas also, but the main difference was that the rooms were obviously rehabbed. She said everything was new and nice and had clearly been totally replaced. The layout of the rooms was the same. I think they have added the curtain around the sink area for privacy. Years back my friend and her hubby had problems with a room at FQ - the air conditioning wasn't working properly and everything was damp and musty -- and so she appreciated a room in perfect condition. Nevertheless, she said she personally still prefers Riverside because the grounds there are so beautiful and she felt the food court over there is better.

AllEars.net has great photos of the rehabbed FQ rooms.

PS: didn't mean to sound critical of FQ. Riverside just happens to be Marla's favorite... One of the nice things about this resort is thta you can use the amenities at BOTH Riverside and FQ, so you can try all the pools and BOTH food courts... Alos, people here on the Boards RAVE about the "beignets" or some similar french word -- little donut-type things they offer for breakfast at FQ. I guess you'll have to try these! Have fun...

We just stayed there for 10 nights and absolutely LOVED it. We really liked the compact lay-out and felt it had a very relaxing atmosphere. I agree that the POR is very beautiful and has a bigger food court but we just walked over there occasionally and had a bite to eat (took our mugs as both resorts share the same mug). I prefer the POFQ though. The transpostation was great: a boat to DD and first to be picked up and dropped off by the buses (shared with POR).

The rooms are newly refurbished (except the bathrooms which are still fine) and they do have a curtain separating the sink area from the room. It's our new favourite resort (next to the GF ;)) and we'll be staying there again for 7 nights in March. We were 2 adults and 1 teenager and found it very quiet...much quieter than other resorts we've stayed in.

Have a great trip. :)

Stayed 8N in May loved it The rooms were nice, the food court was good enough for a quick meal, but most of the meals we ate at parks or larger resorts. I liked the smaller setting of the resort everything seemed convienant.

do you know about how long a walk it is? Thanks for the info

We stayed at POFQ for 5 nights in May. It was absolutely beautiful!!!

My husband and myself LOVED the resort. Small layout, nice and quiet surroundings, beautiful landscaping, and a great pool bar!!

My teenage sons aged 16-17, however, proclaimed they were bored.

They absolutely love All-Star Sports with the football field where there are lots of teenage kids (especially girls softball teams), gathering for all kinds of pickup games of some sort or other. They even spent some time in Nov 02 going to Wide World of Sports to watch some of the friends they met play in their competitions.

It's hard to say because I don't think we ever walked it without stopping to take a million pictures ;) but I'd guess it would be about a 10 minute walk...very beautiful...you walk along the Sassagoula River and it's very scenic. You can also hop on any bus because they pick up at POFQ then go to POR before heading to the parks. Just ask the bus driver to be sure he isn't doing something out of the ordinary. :)

Actually, I think Magic Kingdom buses go straight to Magic Kingdom, but all other buses go to POR first.
