Just got off the phone with them- they are only open for dinner. What do you want to do? They open at 4:00- we could go fo Ritas and apps, then push FF to 8 or so....what do you think, all you DISmoms that actually read this TR???

How about late dinner on Sunday? We can still hit Blue Zoo and others after that - I see tea at 2 (not FOR 2, AT 2......) so we could hit Blue Zoo actually BEFORE dinner and maybe do a late Mexican dinner?)

What a fun, fun, fun last night!! I love exploring the resorts...there is so much to discover by just spending a little extra time wandering around.

So glad you had the Pinotage and that you liked it! I think you sent me a picture of that bottle...I can understand if you don't remember doing it!

Dinner looked fantabulous...as Jiko often is I will be missing that mac and cheese though That and the mussels in dill cream sauce... Maybe I will try that wild boar

OMG!!!! Of COURSE I remember sending you the pic!!! Geez....twelve bottles of wine for dinner and suddenly I'm a booze hound.... Didn't we text back and forth about the new menu and whether or not the mac was still on? Geez- pretty good for someone who drank 25 bottles of wine for dinner, huh?

DEF do that wild boar-it was the BEST!!! I never had the mussels, so I don't miss them. Really loved my Artist's point mussels...all 10 of them....

Those last few updates were so funny. I loved the blurry pictures because I think I would probably feel like that too after drinking several bottles of pinotage. And just like Tracy, I think you sent me a random picture of one of those bottles too!

I can't wait to try Jiko. I have heard so much about the mac and cheese. I can't believe they took it away/ That's just wrong.

Loved all your exploring pictures and how you really got to explore and reconnect with the resort. Victoria falls sounds interesting. Glad you decided to end up there for a nightcap.

Food looks yummy, maybe others all complained about the lack of cheese for the mac too.

We didn't drink several bottles of pinotage- I think it was 2 over the course of the 3 hours we were there. But it REALLY felt like 25, because we were drinking it on fairly empty stomachs at first. I did send you a pic- of the bottle we ordered at the table, I believe. The same one as Tracy. The Mac is still there, you can get it anytime you want!

And HEY! I asked you a LOOOOOOOOONG time ago if you could do a Mom trip to DL- and you said you didn't have kid coverage- has that changed? Believe me, if I ever get there, YOU are in my plans- whether I'm with my family OR without.

Well, I'm almost done with this TR- and you will be happy to know that I am busy uploading all my cruise pics to Photobucket right now- so I can start writing my TR about the cruise as soon as I'm done with this. So hang on everyone!!!!

I think I'll put the whole thing on the Cruise TR board- we were only in WDW for a couple of nights- really just a day and a half, before the cruise, so I'll be putting it over there. And Awwwwww....you made my day! Thanks so much for saying you like to read what I write!

I am so glad they make you laugh! I should be starting it this week- now that we are back from our Thanksgiving adventure to Pigeon Forge, Tn.

That kind of took up a ton of my time, what with all the planning and cooking.

Anyway...on with the show!

We woke up on Wednesday, September 29th, a little groggy, and a little apprehensive about the day's weather. There was a Tropical Storm headed our way...we were glued to the TV, watching every weather report we could find. Not only were we supposed to be golfing in a couple of hours, but we were also supposed to be flying home in this stuff....so, it was a little disconcerting, to say the least. We had some breakfast-

See that little chocolate chip pastry? Yummmm....I had one every day.

And I went over to talk with the Concierge. We decided it would be foolish to play golf, what with all the rain the day before, and all the rain that was on the way. So we will have the Palm course to look forward to on another trip. And when they were called, we heard that we made the right choice, even if it didn't rain anymore- because Tuesday's rain had pretty much flooded the course. It would have been miserable! But, what about our clubs that were stored over there?? We needed to get them to go home- and not just to go home, but to be able to check them as luggage downstairs before we left AKL. No problem- the concierge was happy to send a runner, who would have our clubs back in time. She also suggested we keep close tabs on our flight- there had been many, MANY cancelled flights the day before due to the weather. She was very nice and helpful- I hate that I don't recall her name, but I can tell you, she is the woman with the NY accent.

So what to do with our day now? Pods was out of park tickets- since he chose not to renew his AP. So park touring was out. Guess we'll head to DTD instead. But first, a CL pic, of the construction wall hiding the new area they are creating for younger mouseketeers up there on the 6th floor-

The bus came quickly (YAY!) and we were on our way to DTD in no time.

Hmm...looks pretty good for a day that the weather channel said would bring like 4 inches of rain....

We needed to make a choice for lunch- I wanted Pods to try both Fultons and RR, since he has never been to either. He chose Fulton's, which I was really glad about, because I wanted to say hi to our buddy, Tony the bartender. We were seated immediately, upstairs in the newly done 2nd floor.

The ceiling up there is really cool-

I ordered a bloody mary...and I am not bothering to explain why...

They brought out the complimentary crab dip-

And Mary and i got re-acquainted (although she wasn't as good as I remembered her to be)

See how puffy my eyes were? UGH! They were all itchy and gross- it was really awful, I could not wait to tear my contacts out of my eyes!! We decided to share some lunch...conch fritters-

Lobster & Crab bisque-

And a Fulton's Cobb salad-

Our server was a really, really nice, very friendly guy. He was also a friend of Tony's.

He told me that Tony was no longer at Fulton's...he was just filling in occasionally on the weekend. He is now bartending at RR...and what about Drew not Doug? I think he said he's at Paradiso. Anyway, we'll have to hunt them down another time. It was nice to hear that Tony and his wife recently had their first baby, though.

Lunch finished, we went back downstairs and out the door. In the lobby, though, I noticed this, which I thought was very cool- a map with all today's fish and where it came from-

Up next- a little shopping with Pods and the rest of our day...

We decided we would wander aimlessly for as long as we could...we stopped at RR, but saw no Tony there. We stopped in the Magic shop, and watched a few tricks. I stopped in the umm...collectibles (?) shop and purchased my one and only Vinylmation, the DVC one which had come out just a day or two before. The whole time, Pods was complaining...he is the WORST shopper EVAAAAARRRRR!!!!!!!

We stopped in at Ridemakerz, since this seemed a little more man-friendly. Even if Pods is not a car guy, this bought me another 10 minutes in DTD!

But of course, we were at the end of the line (and really, how much more eye rolling and heavy sighing can a girl take?). It was time to ride the dreaded bus back to AKV....

Where we were able to comfortably wait up in the lounge for the DME until right before 3:30, when it was scheduled to come.

So at 3:15, we went outside. And waited.

And at 3:30, we waited.

And at 3:45, we waited.

And at 4....and at 4:20 or so, the DME arrived-

Yuck.

I don't know what the deal was with this bus, but MAN! It was CRAMPED!!

With hardly any tiny tvs to show everyone's least favorite movie-

Pods' knees were in his nose. Which I found fairly amusing, since he had been so unpleasant on our little DTD shopping adventure!

Yuck-

We made it to the airport, with plenty of time to spare. Of course. Because the plane....although not too badly off time arriving in the airport, was in need of repair.

And an hour later, it was in need of a new plane.

Which wasn't so bad for us, traveling sans kids. Personally, I am ALL FOR a plane in perfect function when I fly the friendly skies. Take all the time you need, I'll wait. Other people? They were pretty pissed. Maybe we should let them get on the broken plane? I dunno. There was a family group, maybe a Grandma & her 3 offspring and their families, that provided entertainment...what with their crazy band of midget hooligans running wild for the two hours we we waited at the gate. One of them went missing for a good 10 minutes or so, and that also provided an activity for all of us, in search of young midget hooligan #3.... the parents? They had the look of too much Disney with too many 2 & 3 year olds- those were some tired, TIRED lookin' people over there!! But they did make me glad my kids are older now, and that hardly EVER happens, so I'll be thankful for what i can get!

So that's it! I'm done!! Until I start the Cruise TR....which will be SOOOOOOOOOOO FUN!!!!!! DO you want to see some Smoky Mountain Thanksgiving pics? I can post a few before I move on. I'll upload some and come back later- but for now, I'll leave you with the least thrilling thrill ride of them all...

FWIW, Pods was taking this photo and muttering something about, "you've got a BIG problem"....while the two business men in the car with us were laughin' their butts off! I have to say...I really enjoyed that....

Okay no more shopping in DTD with Pods...that is just depressing with all of the sighs and all
I don't understand the angst of people and their planes either....well I know everyone wants to get somewhere....basically why we are all there right? But when people complain about deicing in the winter etc...ummmm I don't want to fall out of the sky, okay? I guess maybe we are just more experienced fliers?
