Hi all, I'm looking to introduce someone to Disney World through the podcast, but haven't had much luck finding any shows that might fit the bill. Is there a podcast that would be good for those unfamiliar with Disney World? Same goes with Disney Cruise Line. Thanks!

The only two I listen to are the DIS Unplugged and WDW Today.

I've heard the others, but those are the two I like.

I do think that both are aimed more at Disney fans than newbies, though. I don't know how much I'd have liked them when I was brand spankin new to Disney.

But I'm sure that if your friend has an interest in listening, they'll be able to find something they like.

Instead of a podcast at first, I'd direct them to the DIS' parent site, WDW Info (wdwinfo.com). It has a ton of great information for those who are either newbies or fans. I think that this page is an awesome place to start. They then can jump in with the DIS Unplugged podcasts. Depending on the time of year they are going, they could select an episode that relates to the information they are looking for (holidays at WDW, Food & Wine, etc.). Don't forget to tell them about the boards here! This is where many start out and there's a ton of great information! :disrocks:

I can't think of a podcast specifically geared toward Disney first timers. I agree they should check out wdwinfo to read up a little first, that's where I started, then went to the boards and then found the podcast. If they aren't into reading up online, I'd recommend starting with a Passporter guide book. It's well written, has tons of great info, is easy to read and not too intimidating for a newbie. I still buy the new edition every year even though I don't need it anymore.

We bought a set of DVD's for when we are in a Disney mood and can't get to the parks. They are kind of corny but fun to watch. They have cover the parks, history, rides, etc, Yes, they are a little dated but fun. I think you can rent them from Netflix and they stream too.

" Disney Parks, The Dis Boards and podcasts are like potato chips... just one and your hooked baby!"

The DVD's are called 'The secrets, the stories, and Magic Behind The Scenes": Disney Parks, Where dreams come true

I think the WDW Radio Show is probably the best for Disney newbies. Even though the host is a longtime Disney fan he seems to go into detail explaining things that most die-hard fans already know just in case there are people listening who are new. I agree that most of the other podcasts out there are for people who are already big fans of Disney.

I don't think the OP was asking for recommendations of other podcasts, just info on THE podcast.

I'm not sure if the DIS has done any primers on Disney World, but they've done DCL primers a couple times: back in March of 2009 (3/18 & 3/28) and again on 11/17/2010.

Hope that helps.

Keen observation Tom! You're right, I did misread the OP's post.
