Podcast Impressions on "After Hours"-Believe It Or Not, I (Mostly) Agree

100% yes... This was an event that was designed for an empty park.. It wasn't advertised well that it was an empty park, extra cost event.. anyone calling it not a success doesn't get it or didn't understand that you were paying extra and the park is guaranteed to be empty...
Or maybe the person saying it isn't a success is a Disney accountant. If Disney finds itself giving away tickets and cutting the price in half, it might not be a success for all involved. As I said, this isn't a zero sum game. It can be a tremendous success from the guests' perspective but only a marginal success (or failure) from Disney's. Don't know yet. But it's hard to read this thread and conclude that this is a success all the way around. If Disney wanted/anticipated this level of attendance I'd be very surprised. There is "exclusive" and then there is "empty". The latter describes the Epcot after hours event that didn't survive.

Picture 2000 people paying $150 or $300,000 total.
Let's go light and say 300 front line CMs at 10/hr so $18,000 in man hours
Maybe 30 supers at $18/hr so $5400
Free drinks and ice cream, maybe $3000 in actual cost
Even if utilities are another $50,000 they made money and people smile and boosted shares. Well worth the price tag compared to a VIP Guide at $450/hour with a minimum 4 hour tour. I kust feel bad for those CP members who will be working until 5:00 am and learning what the real world can be like.
