Podcast Cruise 2.0: what's your favorite memory???

That's a great story Kevin. Thanks for sharing it.

When my family was watching the final show of the cruise "Disney Dreams" and the Ariel/Little Mermaid number came on I thought something similar. I thought, "I wonder if the woman singing 'Part of Your World' knows that Jodi Benson was on the ship." Then I thought, I wonder if she does know if that adds any extra pressure?

Jodi was actually at the 8;15 dreams show with her daughters:goodvibes That is a great story Kevin, those characters are so quick witted!

I have to also agree with the others, Bob Gurr was hilarious! I would love to see that video he was taping! Loved Castaway Cay and Palo was the best meal ever, both exceeded the hype! But overall, Jodi concert was the highlight!

As I got off the elevator and walked toward the porthole windows, I saw Ariel, dressed in her beautiful green dress. She had her back to me, looking out the big round window.

As I approached, she turned and said "isnt the sunset lovely?" (it was)

For a moment I was a little kid and speechless. I finally asked if she knew that Jodi Benson was traveling on board the ship and she let out a little gasp, put her hand to her necklace and said "oh my, she gave me my voice. I owe her everything."

I have a similar story to share. I was walking quickly along Deck 5 to meet up with friends and passed Ariel talking to a fellow passenger. Ariel asked the passenger "What has been your favorite part of the cruise?" The passenger, obviously a DIS'er (sorry, I don't know who you are!), said "Oh, I loved the Jodi Benson concert!". Ariel put her hand to her chest and said "Oh! Jodi is my heart!"

I loved it!

OK, my stab at my favorite things:

  • Getting on the ship! (this is a bigger deal than you know)
  • Playing Apples to Apples with friends in the Overlook Bar -I have never laughed so hard. We also invited some other folks to join us and met new friends that way
  • Waiting in line for Jodi Benson's signature and meeting fellow DIS'ers
  • Running the 5K on Castaway Cay (it's really closer to 3.5 miles and I beat my usual time by a LOT!)
  • Seeing Bob Gurr everywhere, filming the action. He is the bomb!
  • Captain Gus' wise decision to swap out At Sea and Castaway Cay days - he is to be commended!
  • Can't wait to cruise again on PCC 3.0!

I had a "magical moment" for myself on the last night of the cruise. We were getting ready for dinner and I had to run out to meet someone at about 5:30.

I came down in the aft elevator and got off to walk along Promenade Lounge toward the atrium.

As I got off the elevator and walked toward the porthole windows, I saw Ariel, dressed in her beautiful green dress. She had her back to me, looking out the big round window.

As I approached, she turned and said "isnt the sunset lovely?" (it was)

I think Renysmom and jacstangler were there and took pictures of this....otherwise I might be able to convince myself that this was a dream.

After a fun, busy, hectic, too short cruise...this was just a short moment, but it looking back at it, it's sort of a symbol for everything I love about Disney.

A middle aged guy, rushing around, can be stopped dead in his tracks by a Princess admiring the sunset.

It was a magical moment Kevin. I spotted Ariel from Shutters looking out the window, all alone, just gazing at the sunset and walked over to take her picture as you came around the corner. You were stunned :)

I will happily post the picture here if you wish ( am not sure how you feel about pics on the boards these days) and will certainly email it to you as well.

Okay, thought I'd share my memories from Podcast Cruise 2.0
for me #1 was meeting new friends!
#2 was watching the live podcast taping...I am probably a bigger podcast fan than disney fan, so that was really cool for me.
#3 definitely seeing Bob Gurr and Charlie Ridgeway.
And not wanting to drag down a thread and be negative, but my 3 biggest regrets were:
#1 getting off the ship in Nassau-we missed Jodi Benson....dumb mistake, big dumb mistake. I wanted to be able to say I was in the Bahamas(actually got off the ship). Honestly I think I knew better ahead of time too, oh well....
#2 Not finding all the people I wanted to say Hi to. If I missed you, I'm sorry It was our first cruise ever and alot of time was spent just taking it all in...Hopefully we'll meet again sometime soon though!
I really did have a great time. Thanks to the Podcast Crew for organizing this event. Thanks to all the friends we met and making us feel welcome.

Meeting two new friends and watching them karaoke!!!!:lmao:

:rotfl::rotfl:
Getting to ask Jodi Benson a question. The five year old who adored Ariel inside was freaking out.
Oh, and asking John and Pete the question that got an "ooh..."

seeing Kim everywhere I went! ;) great to spend so much time with you Kim.

Awesome seeing so much of you and your family too Dave! Ian and I enjoyed rooting for you at Studio Sea during Mickey Mania and The Pirate game!

If you remember during Mickey Mania the one host was "J.D." and he told us that stood for Jelly Donut. We saw him leading the 5K on C.C. and Ian screamed out "Is that Jelly Donut?!". And it was!

Thank you Kevin. So sweet! We are just a couple of big kids! We, of course, enjoyed chatting with you as well!

- Having lunch with Kathy and her daughter to start the cruise
- going out in Nasau after Dinner to "bamboo" and finding a bunch of crew members there. It was all techno and fantastic!
- The concert and of course the presentation by Charlie and Bob
- Seeing old friends and meeting new ones, finally able to put a face to some names again

But really, for William and me, the biggest highlight was Bob. I have to put it above everything else because I was SO blown away by how personable he was with us. If he saw ya sitting somewhere, he was more than willing to come over and chat. I said this in the presentation, but I have to reiterate that there is no better form of motivation to be a better CM than talking to him(and hearing Charlie talk as well). It was because of the personal connection that I went up to him during breakfast on the last day and asked him if he wanted to come to DATW with us. I wasn't sure on location and time so I got contact info and said I would let him know. Sure enough, there he was, 4pm in canada!

After DATW, Fred wanted to go on Mission Space, but it was EMH so we didn't have a room card. Bob approached the fast pass person and asked if we could get on. The CM politely explained that the park is closed to non resort guests. He said "but I have one of these" and pointed to his Disney Legend nametag. The CM immediately responded, "oh I'm so sorry, I didn't see it, how many in your party?" How do ya get in the FP line during EMH with no FP or room key? bring a Disney Legend! LOL

We're booked for PCC 3.0 and I can't wait! start the countdown!

edit: I should point out that it's possible others invited Bob to DATW. I just know I helped the process and that's because he was so personable!

Hard to name just one. From the cruise it would be meeting so many people and feeling like I was part of one great big family. From my stays surrounding the cruise it would have to be riding Tower of Terror with my mom for the first time. She had back surgery a few years ago and can't ride the big ones anymore, but she had such a good time of ToT and laugh/screamed the whole time.

Way too many to list, but here goes....

Helping to hand out credentials for the buses at the Swan and meeting (sort of) ADP, his wife and daughter, Kaa, Webmaster Kathy, and Tracey. Made me feel like a part of things.

Riding the bus with Jeff and Val (OKW Lover) and Mike and Christie (didn't get DIS names). It was the start of matching people to screen names that lasted the whole trip.

Meeting Pete, John, Kevin, Corey, and Julie all on embarkation day.

Nightly dinners with Keith (rkdahl) and his wife Cathy. Even on Palo nights, we had appetizers together.

Charlie's and Bob's talks; Jodi's concert; both autograph sessions; the first part of the Podcast (sorry - Palo brunch called....)

Seeing Bob Gurr at the Outlook bar, chatting with Zulemara and another Disser; chatting with those two when Bob went off to do his video work; Still there when Bob and Fred? and Max the Intern came back.

Riding herd on Tracey's suitcase before we left for the airport Thursday morning (I'm easily amused)

BUT, my absolute favorite moment was when Pete told me I was brilliant, and hugged me :cool1: :yay: :cheer2:

My regret is that I didn't get to talk to Theresa or Kathy.

Booked for 3.0......

Kathy

Wow..this is difficult, but here goes.....

Meeting some DISers, not as many as I had wanted to though
Jodi Benson Concert and autograph signing
Talking with Walter after the concert
Running into Pete for the first time on deck 9...he gives such nice hugs (so do you Todd !!!)
Meeting and spending a lot of time with Sharon, Megan and Nicole
Having a Hot Rock Massage the first night with my DD
The Fireworks

See the looks on my girls faces with everything that we did and sharing this experience with them

Oh, and I rebooked for PCC 3.0 also

I really didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time with people I have been wanting to meet, but those I did see on a repetitive basis by chance were fun to hang with. (I still owe Don and Greg a drink!)

I'm just happy I managed a visit to Castaway Cay, because my last cruise (which was my first with Disney) could not dock there.

My biggest regret was that Mother Nature made it too cold for me to enjoy the pool.
