Podcast 4.0 Fantasy 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise 12/8/2012

We have just joined your cruise date. It is just DH & I - no kids. Looking forward to sailing on the new ship & getting our Palo brunch booked. :thumbsup2

The only time I see them is at dinner. I make them show up. If I didn't I would not see them until we were getting off the ship at the end of the cruise.

Only time I saw kids was at dinner, too. Now I see DD more often. as we take turns caring for DS.

Any tips or suggestions for an adult only party please let me know.

1) RELAX
2) Show up for the cruise
3) Participate in events, where possible

... that's all you need to know ... you WILL have fun! :cool1:

This cruise the kids will be 27, 24, 24, 17, 15, and 9. The only time I see them is at dinner. I make them show up. If I didn't I would not see them until we were getting off the ship at the end of the cruise.

We are Platinum Castaway Club. All but TWO of our DCL cruises were adults only! We brought our son in 1999, when he was 12. Together, we opted to enable him to sign himself in and out of the kids clubs on his own. At the time, we utilized small, two way radios for communications. We almost NEVER heard from him ... but DID require him to be at breakfast, and dinner with us.

In 2001, we returned to DCL with our son (now 14). We brought his cousin (15) as well. After this cruise, both boys swore they'd never sail on any other cruise line. In 2008, our son turned 21, and we brought him (and his girlfriend) on EB Panama Canal Cruise.

We love most things Disney ... DCL is no exception. Even if the characters were not on the ship, the quality and detail is far superior. As for kids ... well ... we always say ... "you must grow old, but you need not grow up!" We often order a Mickey Ice Cream bar for dessert ... they're NOT just for adults! Though we've experienced WDW, DLR and DCL many, many times ... it never gets old. We love the experience of DCL ... and love to relive the experience through the eyes of our guests sailing with us, as well as the children on the cruise, who may be experiencing DCl for the very first time! :yay:

This is our first cruise and we are 2 adults. I'm really looking forward to it. Disney does a great job about making their experiences appealing to both children and adults.

I agree! I think it will be a blast without kids!

So how are the theme dining nights? Should we try and make reservations for Palo or Remy for these nights instead?

Hello all! We are going on the Fantasy sailing on December 8th and it will be our first cruise ever!
We are bringing our kids (twin 12 year old boys) and my parents. Have lots to learn about cruises and forums!:worship:

Thanks! We are really excited and have started our countdown.

We are on deck 8 in connecting family staterooms with balcony. Since we have never cruised before I have no idea how big the staterooms are or what to expect.

What is the FE I keep reading about? Is that the fish extender and what is it?

Thanks for the insight!

Lou

Thanks!!! looking forward to it so much!:)

I probably should have mentioned, each evening, you will get a "Navigator" delivered to your stateroom. It is a 4 page document ... and lays out the activities for the next day. It sorts the information by time, AND by age (as well as family). We typically look at the family activities and adult activities.

After 9PM, Europa is reserved for adults only:
Ooh La La - Champagne Bar
LaPiazza - Circus atmosphere (bar is shaped like a carousel), with mild, live entertainment (depending on time).
O'Gills - Irish Pub
Skyline Bar - Each night, the scenery is different
The Tube - The majority of the night time adult entertainment takes place here. The Tube replicates a London Subway. There is a bar (surprise), but there is nightly entertainment as well!

Check DisneyCruise.com for floorplan layouts of the staterooms. You might be happier if you to not call them BIG ... for the most part, you only sleep and shower there! On the other hand, the staterooms on the Magic and Wonder are typically the largest int he industry. The Dream and Fantasy are a tad smaller. The SPLIT baths are a very nice feature, and are in all stateroom categories 10C (not by deck) and higher.

FE = Fish Extender
On the Magic and Wonder, each stateroom has a pewter-ish "fish" on the outside of each stateroom, next to the door. It was designed for cast members to leave notes, envelopes, communications for guests, without having to enter the stateroom. Over time, people started leaving notes for other guests. Eventually, people stared bringing small gifts for fellow gifts (having sailed with them previously). Someone came up with the idea of organizing the giving of small gifts / trinkets to those who might be interested in doing the same, to members of a group, within DIS. Somehow, someone came up with a delivery system ... which could be something as simple as a plastic bag "hung" (or, extending) from the fish (hence, Fish Extender). Over time, people became more intrigued and creative. There are people who sell Fish Extenders on eBay ... and will make them however you want. I will see if I can post a pic of my FE.

Sounds like a blast Thanks!!!

Hello - we have decided to go on our Disney Cruise in December. I would like to join the FE list. We did it on our last cruise and the kids loved it.

:welcome:

As a quick side note ... I see you are fairly new to DISboards. Once you have posted TEN (10) messages, you will be able to send and receive PRIVATE MESSAGES (PM's). Currently, you are at five posts.

To get to ten, consider posting a few messages in succession. Tell us who you are, and where you are from in one post ... tell us how many other Disney Cruises you have sailed upon in another post ... tell us what other cruises lines you have sailed with in another post ... tell us the last time you have been to Walt Disney World or DisneyLand ... tell us who your favorite character(s), etc.. If this is your first cruise, or first Disney cruise ... feel free to ask any questions you may have. There are lots of people online ... many will offer their personal insight.

Evening everyone. My DW (Sandy) and I (Richard) are going to be on this cruise as well. We actually signed up on our last cruise just over a year ago, and forgot about checking the cruise thread until now. D'oh.

Anyway, This will be our 9th Wedding Anniversary while on the cruise, and our 7th Disney cruise overall.

We do not have kids, but we will participate in the FE.

I'll read over all the postings in the next few days, and officially sign up for the FE on that thread. I just wanted to get us on the roll-call for the cruise. We DID NOT book thru DU, so we won't be participating on the "OFFICIAL" PCC 4 events or the PCC4 FE, just the regular FE.

Thanks.

Welcome abord.
There will be unofficial events that you can do.

[Think I need to put a section on names list for non-PCC people.]
