Podcast 4.0 Fantasy 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise 12/8/2012

I feel for you, Cheri. We limit ourselves to vacations within FL because if we add in airfare, it world be really difficult for us & we wouldn't travel as often. That is why we didn't book a DCL Alaskan cruise next year - airfare, pre-cruise hotel, and pricey excursions. It is just easy for us to drive to Port Canaveral AM of the cruise & just pay for the cruise, parking, and gas.

I hope you can work it out Cheri!

Thanks...it is the airfare and transportation to and from MCO that's adding a thousand dollars to the cost.....if we lived in Florida, it wouldn't be an issue. Time will tell.

Have you considered driving from VA to FL? I am planning on driving - probably to Jax or St. Augustine, spending the night, and then doing the short drive to PC the morning of the cruise. We can usually scrape up enough points somewhere to get a free night at a hotel on the way down. It is a bit of a haul, but you save so much in airfare and transfers (but have to pay for parking), and you have more flexibility and can bring more luggage.

Cheri - I hope that you can still make it. Driving is a lot cheaper. That is why we do it. The drive isn't too bad. It is an option. We will be driving down, but we haven't decided if we are going a couple days early or not.

Cheri, I'm sorry you are going through difficult times right now. Besides driving to FL, can you change to a less expensive cabin on the Fantasy?

My annual pass expires December 3rd, so the latest I would fly to Orlando is December 1st. I don't plan to renew my AP right away, but I still have a 7-day Universal hopper ticket that I could use the rest of the week pre-cruise. I prefer to stay at the Swan.

Believe me, I'm looking into all options at this point. Unfortunately, driving one of our vehicles is not a good idea...way to small to fit us and the luggage...I've looked into renting a car/van....that would only save us about $100-$150, plus the aggrivation of the long drive down and back. I haven't looked at changing the cabin type yet...my DD is refusing to have an interior cabin...but if that would make the difference of going or not going, it could be an option I could go for.

Thanks for all the suggestions and well wishes.....don't count me out yet....I still have 5 months before the decision has to be made.

How many of you are traveling? Right now, the OV cabins are less than the least expensive inside cabins, and 35 sq. ft. larger: $1043 + taxes pp for the 9D and $1099 + taxes pp for the 11C. The DU rate may be even better.

Assuming you are paying for your daughter - she should be grateful if she gets to go at all.

There's 4 of us...I'm not paying for my daughter or her family...just me...last cruise I insisted on an interior cabin to save money...but this time, since she is responsible for 3/4 of the cost she wants her way on the cabin type...I guess I will send Tracey and email and see what options there are for a less expensive cabin...that may help.....thanks for the info

We are thinking about the same thing, or just flying in on Saturday morning....however, (and this is hard to say)..we might not be able to go at all. We have been hit hard with financial issues in the past year and the money might not be there. I have to set up a meeting with the rest of the family and talk about it. In the worst case, we would have to move our cruise to another PCC next year...it breaks my heart, but it's just a fact of life. We still have time to see if we can make it work.....we'll see.

We drive. Even with gas, road food, and an overnight at a hotel, it's still way cheaper than airplane tickets for 4.

I'm back on the cruise, with a change in people...it will be just myself and my DGD. I downgraded the cabin....just waiting for Tracey to email me the new number. Had to move from Deck 7 to Deck 2, but I'm ok with that...afterall....we will only be in there to shower and sleep.

Hello everyone!

We our counting down to our 1st WDW trip and 1st Disney cruise! We are super excited! We will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary while on the ship...

On our first DCL cruise [also first cruise as a family, I took my first cruise as a toddler] ] we were on deck 2. Would book deck 2 if DS hadn't gotten sick [HC cabins are on higher decks].

Mosesavers says Small wonder is best and this is who I was going to book through on monday, can anyone tell me why Dreams is better. One other question, what is the best deck/area to try to book to NOT feel the boat move as much as possible. On the Dream I managed but it could of been better when I was sleeping. Thanks everyone:)

The only way to participate in the DIS Podcast group activities is to book this cruise through Dreams Unlimited. If that doesn't matter to you, then book with whomever you wish.

There are a lot of good travel agencies that specialize in Disney travel, and I have heard good things about Small World Vacations. However, I believe Small World Vacations is also one of the sponsors of the MouseSavers web site.

I'm sure it won't be for a while yet. There is still PCC 3.0 for the organizers to get through. I'd expect to hear more sometime around September. :boat:

I have read through all of the notes on this board but still have a few questions? There was no talk about podcast with our last cruise so what exactly is the difference. It looks like there are extra meet and greats but how did the podcast come about or who started it?
