there may be a chance I will be staying here with my 3 kids (ages 7, 5 and 22 months) if pricing comes out cheaper than AoA. Right now we are booked at AoA solely for the theming. The suite is nice but we won't be spending much time in the room so if we can save some money, why not.

How is the POR for small kids? Obviously AoA is in your face Disney theming and my kids love that..how is POR?

thanks

No other resorts on property can come close to the in your face Disney theming they have at the Value resorts. It's what I like better about them. I get all the Disney I need in the parks. DGD doesn't care one way or another. Probably because a Value was not her first exposure. The Disney touches are very subtle at all other resorts. Kids are going to love it all, it's Disney ;)

We recently got back from 8 nts in a Cars Suite at AoA and my boys loved everything at the resort. With that said, we didn't spend much time there, even to swim. The boys and I are going to PORFQ with my mom in July and I can report back if you want me to. From the pics and descriptions I've seen, I think the kids will love the slide at the pool plus different theming.

thank you so much, please report back! :)

We LOVED our stay in a cars suite! I actually liked it much more than POR.

Ive stayed at both and my 8 year old loves POR Riverside. Its his favorite resort thus far out of CSR, POP, and AOA. He says the cars stuff is cool but likes the bayou look and LOVES the pool at POR.

Now he is dong his first deluxe stay in 8 days at the Poly before a Disney Cruise. I have a feeling its going to become his new favorite.

We've stayed at both and POR would be my pick. Yes, AoA is in-your-face theming, but the rooms and resort, IMHO, is very loud and uncomfortable. I much preferred the rooms and theming at POR. If you will be in the parks all day, you will have in-your-face theming there. When I go back to a resort, I need a little break and a little more subtle theme (but that's just me). I found the beds at POR much more comfortable than the ones at AoA.

POR would be my vote - lovely grounds to explore. good food court, fun to walk around the lake --- great pool and resort feels more personal --also has the boat to take to Disney Springs..our kids loved POR!

POR doesn't have over the top in your face theming. There are plenty of families staying there. The pool has a slide and you are allowed to use POFQ's pool which has a new splash area for young children. Plus the boat to DS.POR also has 4 quiet pools in addition to the main pool.

When my kids were little they liked the looks of value resorts more than mods. Once there though, they preferred POR because it has a pool slide.

POR will be significantly less $. How much time will you spend in the resort? If you plan on spending most of your time in the parks, the kids will be too tired to really enjoy the resort either way. If you plan on using the pool, the kids would probably pick the slide over the décor.

Kids will probably like AB nature theming as much as in your face Disney. You would need to book preferred to guarantee AB. Also, if you get AB you will (almost definitely) get a murphy bed, so kids won't have to share a bed (only the accessible rooms in AB don't have a murphy bed).

Looks like your two older kids are girls? If so, look into the POR royal rooms. They are in the mansions section and the rooms have as much in your face Disney theming as AoA.

We stayed at POR two years ago with my 2.5 year old. I think it was perfect--they have a ton of buses around the resort so you can always find a fairly close bus stop to where you are staying. The food court is great--if you are up for a little hike you can walk over to POR French quarters to another food court. They have a great lobby and when we were there frequently had characters there. The outside main entrance they would always have bubbles and games for the kids to play with. The pools are fun---the main pool has a water slide and bar area. Then there are some smaller more quiet pools spread through the resort. We had never stayed at POR until this visit but easily will go back because we had a great experience with our younger kids again.
