For me....it would have to be the peaceful seclusion of the bayou -the spanish moss dripping from the trees, hearing nothing but crickets, the little bunnies and baby ducks scurrying around - the feeling that I'm all alone in the bayou of Louisiana.

Was that ONE thing? Yeah - all the goodies grouped as ONE!;)

While we enjoyed our stays there with no complaints at all, it didnt really WOW me, like some other resorts. The one thing that really stands out is the lounge with Bob the piano player. It such a nice place to sit and relax and have a good time. Bob made it so much fun.

I would have to say....the walkway by the water wheel and the dixie music playing in the bathroom :D (that was the first thing the kids noticed :) ) Can't wait to get back!!

I would say the 1 best thing about the Riverside is the number of food choices that you have at the food court, By far it's the best resort food court at WDW

the boatride to DTD is also pretty close

I would have to say this resort is gorgeous. We were in the Alligator Bayou section. The landscaping, the little critters everywhere (squirrels, rabbits, ducks and birds) are just beautiful. My children were out every morning feeding the ducks. They loved it.

We had a waterview room and it was spectacular. We rode the surrey bikes over to the mansion side, and were so impressed with them. They look like true southern plantations.

The big waterwheel and the lobby were beautiful and totally in theme with this resort.

We loved it.

This is our favorite resort, so picking out just one thing that makes it great is tough. I would have to say the beautiful scenery - I love to take a morning walk along the path around the river, all the way down to FQ and back. The food court is a strong second.

I'd say the food court, followed by the walkways around the resort. I just loved walking around the place and also renting bikes and riding them around.

Just to walk along the river in the early morning or in the evening is probably my favorite. We love to get off the bus at POFQ & take a leisurely stroll "home" along the river at night. We stop & sit on a bench & watch the boats go by, so pretty & peaceful.

We stayed here for the first time in May and just loved it!I loved the bunnies jumping across the lawn in front of Parterre Place early in the evening. Another thing that stands out is sitting in the gazebo relaxing as butterflies flitted about all around us. What a magical resort!

We stayed in Alligator Bayou, and I loved the peace and quiet after a busy day at the parks. I'm looking forward to our December trip because I'd love to be walking along the paths by the river as the sun rises, and sunrise in May was just WAY too early!

Great post! Too many to mention, but right up there for me is the slide at Ol' Man Island, so much fun!!! (and i'm 42 yrs. young). The boat to DD is next, and the walkway next to the "wheel" is last. But I'm kind of sad, because we just joined the DVC and our new home is going to be at the BCV's now. We'll still tack on a few nights before our trip next April though. I love this place!!

Thanks for the question, Patty, and the link to your website. Your POR pictures are great!!

I was wondering, since you have been there quite a bit, if you could recommend a building in AB for newlyweds?

Also, what type of camera did you use for your pics? They were all so colorful (we are shopping for a new camera).

Thanks!!

:)

Deluzy (I'm not Patty, but I've been to POR several times). Welcome to the Dis! As honeymooners, I would recommend not staying in AB, these rooms are really for families of 5 that need a trundle bed. I would highly recommend the mansion section of POR. This is far more romantic, right along the riverway. It is so beautiful at night, so many places to take a quiet walk and places to sit right along the river. You'll love this resort for a honeymoon! :D

Well, I'll voice my opinion for the bayou for a little romance.;) Hubby and I have spent two - adult only trips to the bayou. It's very quiet and secluded - especially the further back in the resort you get. If you don't mind the walk, this area is really quiet and peaceful. Families with small children usually request a location closer to the main buildings.

Actually the photos that you saw were several years old and I now have a digital camera (Olympus) that I'm still learning to use. I just uploaded photos from our recent trip to an online photo album, so I'll attach the link here.

The pull chain potty and the carpeting that looked like hay on the floor.

Walking from AB to MB and noticing the gradual progression of the building architecture from rustic to grandiose!

We definetely liked the boat to Pleasure island and Downtown Disney. What a relaxing and convenient way to go there. We looked forward to it every evening, and picked a different place to eat. Let's face it, it's not something you do at home ! Enjoy !
