Well, I just changed our ressies from CBR to PO-R. I was really worried that we'd get a room in a far off island at CBR (since it's the largest resort) and DH is not keen as it is about staying at a moderate. I'm trying to make this as pleasant as possible for him.

I was happy to hear that the boat to DTD is now running, therefore I switched to PO-R. Also, I've heard what a romantic and quaint resort it is. I was thinking about staying at PO-FQ, but the CM told me it only has a food court, no sit down restaurant. So, I took PO-R.

I've requested the Magnolia Mansion, 2nd Floor w/King bed. How's this location? We like the room decor in the mansions over the alligator bayou decor (from pictures) that's what made us decide on the mansions. I thought the mansions were closer to the food court and bus, but from what I read recently, I find now it's not. Just how long is the walk? Is this a good location?

Is this a nice resort for couples?? Is the food court and restaurant nice/decent? Anyone have a website with info on PO-R?

Any info you have on this resort I'd appreciate.

Did I make a good choice???

This may sound crazy, but PO-R is the one resort where I actually prefer a long walk to be able to enjoy the grounds. I missed having the boat ride to DD last month. I'm glad it's back. The building you've requested is probably no more than a five minute walk to the main areas. We have never been given any of our requests and have been glad to be suprised with what we were given after almost spoiling our trip by a bit of over planning. As long as I don't get a parking lot view, I'm thrilled with anyplace at PO-R! I think this is a very romantic resort. Make sure to take a walk at night from PO-R to PO-FQ. Very nice!

it is a beautiful resort and the mansions are farther away, but they are very nice and the resort is not anywhere near the size of CBR, and the above poster is right the grounds are great so walking is okay.

the request you made looks like the best option for a mansion, the walk would take maybe 3- 4 minutes for me, i am a fast walker, but not more than that for an average walker...
i think you will love the resort after looking at the photos
another link is below and it has reviews as well as photos

good luck and have a great time

I love the Magnolia Bend section of POR. But we also dont want to be too far away from the main bldg. You might want to fax your request to the FD a few days before your arrival. The more request you have the fewer your chances are. Though I know they always try and we have been fortunate many times. Oak Manor & Parterre Place are nice quiet bldgs that are just a bridge from the main bldg.

I'VE STAYED AT BOTH I LOVED BOTH BUT IF I HAD TO CHOOSE IT WOULD BE MAGNOLIA BY FAR IT IS BEAUTIFUL. AND WITH BOTH SISTER RESORTS TOGETHER IT IS THE BIGGEST MODERATE DISNEY HAS.

We've stayed in the Magnolia Terrace mansion all four times we've stayed at POR. We think it's a great location. The grounds are beautiful & you have a quiet pool close by. You will be real close to the main pool with it's bar & snacks. There is a bus stop in back of the mansion, but if it's a busy time of day we usually walked to the main entrance to make sure we got on the bus. It is probably a brisk 5 minute walk for us, but we prefer a slower hand-holding pace to soak up the wonderful atmosphere. The food court is great, with a really good bakery. The boat to DD is a treat. If POFQ is open when you go take a stroll along the river at night for a visit--it's a very pretty & (we think) romantic walk. I think you'll be happy with your choice.

Thank you so much! You guys made me feel alot better about my choice.

Thanks for the great sites too. Wonderful pictures!

DITTO to everything said in the previous posts. We'll be returning to this resort in August for our 4th stay. It's by far our favorite Disney resort. And as for romance...I think it's a great resort for couples. Hubby and I are doing an adult trip this time - and leaving all of our kids in Indiana!!! ;)

We've always stayed in the Alligator Bayou section because we love the secluded feeling. There have been times that I've have felt like we're the only people in our building. I'm tempted to request a mansion for this upcoming visit, but DH (who never voices much of an opinion) informed me last night that he wants to stay in the bayou again.

I think you've chosen a great location. And like a previous poster stated...you won't mind walking through this beautiful resort.

I've attached a link to my DIS website which is full of pictures and our thoughts after 3 visits here. Hope it helps!!

Port Orleans Riverside

I plan on staying 3 nights in Alligator Bayou and 3 nights in Magnolia Terrace - hopefully I won't regret it!

You're going to love PO-R. The restaurant is terrific and the lounge is nice to sit and have a drink. Order the banana stuffed french toast. I am so thankful for this board, I wouldn't have tried it otherwise. I LOVE it, can't wait to go back for more!
