PMS in a Healthy Handbasket--Thread Abandoned--Move on, Nothing to see here

Paige darling, any day that someone has stuck any man made instruments and/or camera into "no man's land" deserves any treats you want. And maybe even the next day.

My evening treat is a cup of coffee with my flavored creamer. Yummy and I needed the pick me up.

I had a late start to my day today. But the good news is that the shot in my foot has taken effect so I have a few weeks of pain relief ahead of me (I hope).

...

This was a good day. I have been in so MUCH pain for so long I have forgotten what it is like to actually not be in pain and be able to walk some. I can't believe just how it changes my whole mood and makes me just want to get up and go. I was back to my my mostly active get up and go self today. I feel pretty good! I know that right now this is temporary, but if I lose the weight maybe it can be permanent.

I had to go and get a bunch of stuff at Walmart so I still used the electric cart--if I push myself to much I will be back in pain pretty fast. Everyone commented at the pool about my walking without crutches or a cane. I start PT tomorrow morning.

Glad you are feeling better!! :yay:

My day today....

Coffee for breakfast (I'll try harder)

Tuna with fat free mayo and two pieces of cheese on whole wheat crackers for lunch

For dinner, a hamburger with no bun and a few fries...baked not fried....and applesauce (went to the dentist today...in the chair for two hours...I am in PAIN...couldn't get the whole burger down. I may have ice cream tonight, but mostly because it's soft.

So here's a question...for my night time snack....is sherbert better for you? I seem to recall hearing that it was.

Oh no! I hate the dentist. I know I need to go but I just can't get myself to pick up the phone and call for an appt.

My day:
B: Coffee
L: Sammich, salad, pickles, wow chips (275)
S: Apple (60), ff/sf caramel (0)
D: Banquet sliced beef meal, kozy shack apple dessert, total 300
S: FF popcorn, light beer, total 325

I am only at 960 calories, so I probably need to eat something else. I need to start eating more for lunch on hockey days, I think. I have gotten so focused on losing weight lately that I think maybe I am not eating enough. Weigh-in on Friday should help let me know if this is working for me... I am just not hungry very much... maybe my body has gotten used to it, or maybe HUGE plates of salad help.

There are lots of really good low fat ice creams out there. Really good ones are the Starbucks Frappachino bars. And Blue Bunny Light Bunny Tracks. :cloud9:

For breakfast I had a banana and WW Amareto Cheesecake Yogurt, only 1 point and very good.

For lunch I had a Buddig Turkey sandwich with a little light Mayo and pickles on whole wheat bread, a salad with Romaine lettuce, strawberries and blue cheese with Light Catalina dressing.

For dinner I had chicken strips, not very healthy, Chipotle Ranch fries, not bad, 110 calories, 3.5 g fat and 2 fiber, and corn on the cob.

Good Morning Healthy PMSers! :wave2:

I am off to Physical Therapy. I have a bag of snacks packed with cheese sticks, yogurt, carrots and snap peas. I need to get some water to take.

Everyone go right now and get a glass of water and drink it!!!!:drinking1 (okay, make sure yours isn't brown)

.

Go NOW! I didn't go for years and years and now I need tons of work. Yesterday was session two of a three session nightmare.

Hi guys--scrappy I am glad you are feeling better. Paige--go easy on yourself honey. As much as you can do is as much as you can do.

Kat--about the dentist. I avoided for YEARS and the more you avoid the worse it gets. I was feeling like any dentist I went to was going to read me the riot act adn where was I going to get the time to get it all done anyway. I found a sedation dentist and while I did not do sedation, he was awesome. Sedation dentists often specialize in people who have major tooth problems.

As for my weight loss efforts, I am having a hard hard time with excercise. You know how I said I was going to go to Curves yesterday? Well, by the time DH got home I was so tired I went to bed and stayed there til this morning. I am having a really hard time balancing taking care of myself for the MS and not causing a relapse and doing what I have committed to for various things and also getting some excercise. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I ended up staying in my points range yesterday due to going to bed and not having dinner. So at least that part worked out.

So far today I have had coffee (2pts) and toast with pbutter. (4?)

I don't know what your limitations are with the MS and what you can and can not do and what you NEED to be doing, but taking care of your self is your first priority. You may need to say "no" to a few other commitments. You have the BEST excuse in the world--Doctor's orders. No one is going to look at you bad for backing out if you have to.

Are there some things you can do at home on the days you can't get to Curves? Like get some hand weights to lift at home? Do some leg lifts? Maybe jog in place or take the kids for a walk? I dont' remember how old your kidlets are (I have an awful memory).

Try just working in extra movement in all you do like parking further away, walking around the block or up and down the street when you come home. Go up and down the stairs a few times when doing laundry instead of having the kids take it up and down.

I haven't been to the dentist in about a year and a half. I took a contract position w/ no dental insurance, but I have no excuse now since I have had insurance since Jan. I am a little irritated at my dentist since they built a brand new office right across the street from the old one, w/ a new LCD sign, etc., AND I always had to pay extra after my insurance kicked in... it seems as though somewhere in there too much $$ is being made. A new dentist set up shop where my old one was, so I will get the number off their sign tomorrow AM and call, I promise.

I can't help with the MS and exercise, unfortunately. I do think that you need to put the priority on you.

I kicked that frackin' elliptical trainer's behind today... 47 min, 3.4 miles. I find that if I bring headphones, plug in, and watch the TVs that they have set up, that it helps me to go longer. Magazines work too.

Food today, breakfast was 1 cup of applejacks (130) and coffee (10). Lunch was Smart Ones Roast Beef (190), activia yogurt (70), and a salad (100). 500 total so far. I think dinner is going to be chicken livers (110 cals in 4 oz!) and onions, and a potato sliced very thin and "fried" in a non-stick pan with salt and pepper. Maybe some steamed cauliflower to go with it all.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: You go girl!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Okay I WALKED into the weight room at the Y today :woohoo: I was just checking to see what I have to do for an orientation on the machines. Still, it was another step! I have to set up an appointment for the orientation but I am still not sure what our summer schedule will be so I will have to call back next week. There is talk of the parents forming a coup about the Swim Team Practice times and getting some changes made that would be great.

I really agree with that. I hadn't been in 4 years and ended up having to have root canals on 2 teeth and caps put on.

Although I now wonder if I had a differant dentist if I would have had a differant outcome. The dentist I had was not a very nice and would be impatient when I would be nervous. I actually had the root canals with a endontist and the differance in there personalities was tremendous. With him if I so much as twitched he would stop and make sure I was okay.

I switched to another dentist because her office no longer took my insurance and a lot of the things she told me, he said differantly. She told me that I grind my teeth, he said he saw no evidence of it. She told me I had to have dental planing, which is a deep cleaning that takes 4 visits, he did something differant, can't remember what it was called and it took 20 minutes. Of course now I no longer have that insurance and he doesn't take it. :sad1:

Today hasn't been a good day for the old lifestyle change. I had my banana and yogurt for breakfast, but lunch was really bad. We had a meeting and I had fried chicken, pork barbeque, mac and cheese and the most luscious brownies, Creme de Menthe and Peanut Butter. I am having leftovers for dinner. :sad2:

Kat, call the dentist. I am another dentistphobe. I had a dentist when I was a teen that yelled at me. He was evil. My mom still goes to him and I told her to let the little snot know that he ruined dentists for me for life. Anyway after 6 or 7 years, I finally went to the dentist and have not regretted it. I had to get a crown, but otherwise my mouth looked good.

Now here's my update....

I ate DS1's toast for breakfast. I tried to give him 2 slices of WhiteWheat toast with grape jam, but he wouldn't eat it so I ate most of it.

Had a free Firehouse Sub for lunch, roast beef with provolone on wheat with lettuce, tomato, oil & vinegar.

Banana for snack.

Dinner will be baked chicken breast with some kind of vegetable.
Oh, and and I have had a couple of diet cokes. Will probably have a bowl of Carbsmart ice cream for night time snack.

I will, I will. I am just lazy and hate calling people. I need to call and change an ADR for my Sept trip and have been putting it off. We also need to get off our butts and plan May '08 soon or we will lose our 11-month window.

love, great job for going to the Y! Our Ys around here are SO expensive.

I hope my over-enthusiastic diet mode isn't annoying. We got back from WDW in May, had another week of bad eating, and since both DH and I made the commitment to lose weight, I seem to have both feet planted firmly on the wagon. I guess that I am sick and tired of being fat. Everything I want to eat, I think, what do you want more... the food, or to be thin? I remember 150 lbs, and I really want that feeling again.

:lmao: Kat--you HAVE to get over the PMS thread and say HI--the more you tell us the more you fit in! Most all of us have "phone phobia" and HATE to call others--especially when it comes to calling and scheduling doctor appointments. We often kick each other in the virtual rear to make appointments that are necessary so they get done.

Your diet mode is so NOT annoying, it is very inspiring and I know that it is what I need. And I love reading how how are fitting "real life" food into your plan. And at least one beer a day! So many diet plans have food that just isn't "real' like grains I have never heard of, or expensive specialty fruits or veggies, or difficult to make recipes for foods that sound gross. You seem to have a great realistic plan and are making it work. I love seeing it here to I can see how you are doing it.

At this point I am not doing any real structured "plan". I am just trying to follow the South Beach principals as much as I can. At this point I think anything I do to cut out the junk and put in healthy foods will make a huge difference.

Thanks!! You have made my day. I will definitely get over to that thread and will install MSN, perhaps tonight. My DH is working tonight, tomorrow night, and all weekend so I will have a LOT more internet time than I have at the beginning of the week.

However, I have a date w/ the Disney store on the way home from work tonight... I heard something about a sale and I have an eye on a bathing suit I want from disneyshopping, and although I know the two don't usually share merchandise, I thought I would check it out.

I can't do fancy diet plans. I have tried once or twice but they make me eat beets and carrots and tomato juice and bunches of things I either can't identify or hate. They also all seem to have HUGE breakfasts and I just can't stomach that much food before 11AM... geebus, I can barely stomach being AWAKE before 11AM.

I also can't completely eliminate things I love from my diet. That is the main reason low carb/Atkins didn't work for me... I am just not that good to never eat another doughnut, candy bar, McD's fries, etc. (I really do think McD's puts crack in their fries, but that is a topic for another discussion!) I do best on calorie-limiting plans where *I* decide what I eat. Sparkpeople helps a lot with tracking, and I usually try to stay 50-100 under my 1200 so that I can accomodate errors (or shame in reporting).

I read somewhere that a good formula is desired body weight x 12 for your upper calorie limit. That would be 1740 for me, but I have found through trial and error that I get best results at ~1200.

Slow day here. WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE???

So here is what I have had today:

B: Coffee Whole Wheat Toast with Lite Peanut Butter

S: small yogurt, cheese stick, snap peas, water

L: 1/2 serving of Sauteed Chicken and couscous

S: square of chocolate, canned peaches and cottage cheese

D: hamburger patty with cheese wrapped in lettuce, black beans, pineapple, diet Pepsi

I probably won't need a snack tonight. I didn't drink much water today. I was on the go and didn't have time to peeeeeeeeeee.

I'm here...

Breakfast, coffee again (don't lecture...I know)
Lunch, pasta with a red sauce and pudding...not healthy, but soft
Dinner, pork chops and stuffing...again going for the soft factor.

No snacks (yet)

Food today, breakfast was 1 cup of applejacks (130) and coffee (10). Lunch was Smart Ones Roast Beef (190), activia yogurt (70), and a salad (100). 500 total so far.

My food was the above, plus 270 cals of chicken livers, 100 cals of thinly sliced potatoes pan-fried with onions (in cooking spray/non-stick pan, so no calories added in cooking), and 50 cals of frozen cauli/broccoli. Also had a 100 cal cup of Breyer's cookies n cream ice cream. I think my total for today according to Sparkpeople was about 1050-1100. Also drank 96 oz of water, took my vitamin, and had my Mega-T green tea pill in the morning and afternoon.

Blech, is this week over yet? I can't wait for Saturday.

Merle, I keep seeing what you had for lunch yesterday and drooling. Especially the brownies. . .

Today is a new day. Back to your healthier choices! I will be having a good cheat day next week when I take my mom to the Melting Pot!

Lara: Your choices sounded pretty good, I certainly would have found much worse soft foods than what you did in the past! I would have probably just skipped the pasta and pork chops and just had milkshakes and pudding  . So you did a great balance. I hope you are feeling better today.

Kat: Almost Saturday, Almost Saturday, Almost Saturday, Almost Saturday. Deep breath.

First day of summer for my kids today and they wanted to celebrate--How? They wanted to make canned cinnamon rolls. My house smells like cinnamon rolls. WILLPOWER. I have had coffee and am making Go Lean Oatmeal. High in Protein and Fiber.

There is one cinnamon roll left. I have to get one of these rugrats to eat it and get them all out of my HOUSE.

Oh yumm... Melting Pot!

Only 6.5 more hours to go until the weekend. This week has gone like molasses.

I did my weigh-in today and I am down 2.6 lbs from last Friday! That brings me to 10 lbs down since starting WISH, and 26.4 total. AND, I got new bling.

21 more to go for my Sept mini-goal, and 41-46 for my final goal. One of these days I need to figure out how to do a ticker.

Hope everyone is having a skinny day!!
